OCCUPY LoD :)
So....on my Wednesday night liberty, this is what I came home to.....

This was Friday, after the swelling went down, and he was moving around and acting semi-normal.

This is after I did a hot press and cleaned it up really good.

Still not sure what happend to him, but my dad found him sitting at the end of our driveway in a daze. He took him to the vet and they prescribed some meds and said come back on Saturday(today) when the swelling dies down.

I took him in today and they said he's probably going to loose vision in his left eye........ :embarrassed:

On Tuesday, Duke has an appointment to see an Optomotrist for animals and they will determine the next route to take. They will determine if they eye is going to get infected and they have to remove it, or if he will have full normal function, but lack vision. :(

He means the world to me, please keep him in your prayers everyone!

That's just awful. Let's hope you find out what happened and if it was an intentional assault, the person responsible gets justice dealt them.

Oh Jesse, that's horrid! I hope Duke doesn't lose his eye, and I hope it's not too painful for him.

Awww Man...that sucks... I have heard that some walkers walk around with a squirt gun filled with ammonia to squirt dogs/animals when they feel threatened. As this did not look (to me) as a laceration and I do not know what ammonia will do to an eye, thought maybe it would give you an idea of what (maybe) to look for as people walk by your house.

Sure hope Duke outwits the docs and recovers!!

jesse thats sucks man i feel for you, i know how much you love duke, but i do have to say, what leads you to believe that a human did this to the dog? if it was thats a pretty rotten thing to do to a dog, but i want to know why you think a person intentionally did this?

That kinda stuff pisses me off. I hope you find who did it and they get what is coming to them. God speed Duke.

Thanks everyone for your support! He is in good spirits and is acting/running around like normal, but still runs into stuff when he turns left.

Jamie, there is a laceration just in front of his eye and on his actual eye ball. I looked really close at his eye and it almost looks like the pupil is full of blood. :( If it was a car, his nose and head would have been hurt more than they were, and the fact that his eyebrow was swelled up to the size of a tennis ball leads me to believe that he was hit with something, directly in the eye.

I am so sad for Duke. I hope he has a speedy recovery, and he sure looks like a great friend.

I just don't understand how people can hurt animals. I would be in jail for sure if anyone hurt our dog!

Sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he recovers fully. A small percentage of mean people keep the rest of us from joyful peaceful life.

Oh wow :( I had that pic on my cell phone but it didn't tell the whole story :( I am so sorry Jesse... poor duke I hope he will recover. He is such a great dog.

Jesse I hope Duke is able to pull thru this OK, What a sweet dog he must be. It is awful to think some individual could do this to a defenseless pet. Hope all goes well.

I know you won't see this till next weekend Jesse, but did you ever think to check Duke's teeth?? This may be a case of: "You should see the OTHER guy"!!!

I've had issues with one of my dog's eyes twice now. It seems she must scratch them on something. I really hope this was an accident and not someone doing something intentional.

Oh man, Im sorry J! I hope Duke pulls through, he is great looking lab, I love labs, I have had 4 of them in my life, 2 yellow, one black and one chocolate.

Thank you everyone for your support, Duke appreciates it and needs it too!

Here is an update......

Duke went to the Animal Optomitrist and this is what they said. His eye ruptured from some type of object hitting it(i.e. bb/pellet, sharp fence) and this hole in his eye created a vacuum of sorts and the brown iris of his eye pushed out and plugged the rupture.(note the blood blister looking thing on his eye) The doc said that if the iris hadn't plugged the hole, his eye ball would have collapsed and he may have died from bleeding. She injected some stuff into his eye ball to relax it and check for stimulous. His eye reacted to the light which is a good sign, but there is only a small chance that he will have any sight, but I still pray for him. His eyeball was swollen because it was full of blood, which has since gone down from the last time I saw him on Sunday, but there is still blood present. His spirits are still good, but he is still in pain and yelps when he bumps it. As you can see....his eye is extremely cloudy and you can see the blood/iris blister on his eyeball. He will no longer have two brown eyes..... :(
