Sound absorber under hood

Whats is that black installtion type thing under the hood and do we need it on the cars. If I take it off will too much heat get to the hood and cause my pearl white mark to yellow. Or is it just for the sound

Hey ponyfreak - your avatar just shows up as red Xs to me in all your messages. Are you sure you don't just have a local copy cached on your computer? And when I past the link to the pic directly in my browser, it says it doesn't exist.

oh and the other side is silver so does it have any type of heat blocking use

Thanks John, I changed it, it should work now.. I do not know why it did not work before.

I like my sound absorber. It stays on and makes it look nice and pretty :)

But its ok if I take it off....Wont damage the paint because of heat some people said it would....does anyone have theres off
