Spam from the future

There is something unusual with my e-mail today. All the regular mail from people I expect to get e-mail from has today's date.

What is odd is that I got a lot of spam-type mail that is dated from September 29 to October 2, 2005. How did this happen?

I must check through it to see if someone form the future sent me the winning Lottery numbers for this weekend. :)

RE: Spam from the future

On a more serious note, where does the time/date stamp originate? I've always noticed some weird times for emails I know were sent literally moments earlier. For instance an email from a co-worker sent and received early this afternoon with a time stamp of 7:30 AM??? ::roll::

RE: Spam from the future

This company apprently offers software to change an e-mail time stamp to a previous date, ostensibly to organize tasks more efficiently. http://www.fakemailz.com/schedule-email.html .

Obviously the designers of the current e-mail system, never considered a secure system that you know who the sender is and when it was actually sent, because the intial users had little reason to hack the system.
