SSHS9 Southern Super Heavyweight Shootout 9

Ok, I want to um... bring it... so what should I stock it with? :D

So let's see, here is my plan, or supposed plan... well, it's as much of a plan as I ever seem to have... :D

Leaving to JP Weds night-ish...
Meeting JP Thurs morning-ish...?
Meeting Sharon in WV?
Leaving for GA Thurs evening...
Staying at mystery hotel along the way...
Meeting Sharon at mystery hotel? :D
Arriving GA Fri...
Meeting Sharon in GA?
Staying in same hotel that I'm sure Mrs. Driller has already booked?

BTW, how should I register CaddySax? I think it would be fun to send it down the track a few times, but really I'm all about the best parking...

:D -J

lol Joe, Stock it with whatever you want. ;) The party crowd will probably be at the Jameson Inn - the hotel that the Chevy Impala guys are staying at. The party starts Friday night in the parking lot and probably ends Sunday morning.

Here is a link to the hotel: http://www.jamesoninns.com/Hotel_Detail.asp?pHotelID=SJ1370

Parking will not be a problem on Saturday, unless you park right on the drag strip or staging lanes lol. The test and tune should be good for the CaddySax if you want to take it down the track. You can pre-register by clicking on the "race entry" paypal button here: http://www.sshs9.com/register.html

If you decide to enter the car show, or general admission, there are buttons for that too. General parking will be the same for whatever you choose to do, so you will definitely have easy access to your cooler.

Hells yeah! :)

(Yes, Mrs. Driller has made reservations)
See link above before they run out of rooms!

And it looks like the drill bits will be tagging along. :D

It'll be a blast!

Ok, I'm not sure there are (in fact I'm fairly certain there are not) any specialty Northern drinks anyone might want. Can you get Long Trail down there? Isaac turned me on to it, and if you don't hold that it's brewed in Vermont against it, it's pretty good... :D

I think history has proven, I'll park wherever the #@%* I want, and to hell with the consequences... or at least to $109.50 with the consequences... :D

I may just register for both. I assume, I have to register to race to be able to run in the test and tune?

Ok, so I called the hotel, yeah at 2:30 in the morning, cause I have no set sleep schedule at this point, and I'm pretty sure I woke the guy up, cause he wanted 30 minutes to call me back... :D

And oh yes... it'll be a blast... :D :D :D

Fixed the one issue.

OK, this is the same weekend as SSHS. Which I've never gone to but want to go to. But may not be able to afford to go to. So I still have to see.

You are TOTALLY GOING to SSHS9!!! :D :D :D

and yes, I'd be happy to "share" a room :D

I would have mentioned this in the "other" thread, but I didn't want to hijack it :D

It's now 3:20 in the morning...

I'm starting to think he isn't going to call... :D

lol Beer- maybe as a chaser... These guys drink moonshine... lol You can tell Marvin is a Lincoln owner by his "pinky up" drinking style... I do not recall seeing Long Trail in the stores around here, but I really haven't looked for it either.

lol I think the racers might take matters into their own hands if CaddySax blocks them from getting their 1/4 mile fix. :) Might want to re-think that one...

Yes sir. Race button is for T&T.

OK, fine, who wants to call/e-mail Hubby and tell him my presence is required? I haven't talked to him about it yet, but things are getting straightened out with the kids.

Buffalo Grove, IL to Commerce, GA:

13 hours 5 minutes / 808.74 miles

:D

Well, JP, either that or I travel to you guys, then caravan with all of you.

The drive itself, no biggie. But we've been helping the kids out since the whole unemployment issue, have a lot to do around here, so I don't know what he'll say.

I begged hubby in an e-mail but haven't heard back from him (yeah, sure he's downstairs, but I get more attention --still very little but more -- when I send e-mails). Someone needs to tell him for me. :)

Moonshine huh... (fantastic picture BTW) With the one exception of White Lightning night, which I obviously don't remember at all... my favorite moonshine comes from Poland, triple distilled, served straight up with olives... :D

Filling out the insurance reports could be fun... :D

Sharon, check your e-mail :D

Finally just booked a hotel room at the "good" hotel :D

JP, do you know where we're crashing Thursday, or are we just gonna wing it? :D

We usually 'wing it' to somewhere in NC. It all depends what time we get on the road. :)

Hubby says it's a go.

So, Joe, let me know if you still want us to split the room with you.

Mike, JP, let me know if I'm forgetting anything, or need to do anything, guess I'll register online. Hubby says I can't race, but we'll ignore him, because I have no times with all my mods. I suggested driving to WV and caravaning with the Drillers, but was told that was a stupid idea. Which it is, I guess, when you have a job, but for me, it sounded like fun. ;)

Glad to hear you can make it, Sharon! :) Suggestions if you want to race - make sure your battery is securely fastened down, no fluid leaks, all lug nuts and studs are accounted for and in good shape, and a general overall inspection of the of the car will not bring concern to the tech inspector.

The tech inspector will look your clothing over for racing: wear blue jeans - no sweat pants, or shorts. Closed toe shoes - sneakers are ok, sandals not ok. No tank tops or sleeveless shirts. Wear a regular short or long sleeve shirt or a T-shirt, and a jacket since it is cool out. Stay away from the nylon/polyester stuff that is easy to catch on fire.

The moonshine is from parts unknown, but if you see some Impala SS guys gathering in the parking lot, chances are good you might see some glowing mason jars being passed around. :)

Collapsible chairs might come in handy, because people tend to hang out in the pits as much as in the grandstands. Glass beverage containers should not be brought into the track, but cans are ok. Nobody will be looking at the stuff you bring into the pits, but a broken bottle won't go over well with the racers.

A bunch of us usually go to the track on Friday night for the regular Friday night Test & Tune:

http://www.atlantadragway.com/apcm/templates/track_info.asp?articleid=10106&zoneid=35

We meet at the Sonic drive-in around 4-5pm, grab a burger, and caravan to the track that is about a mile away and be in line when the gates open at 6pm.
