Stalls Out

I have been having a bit of problems with my Mark lately. I have put about 400.00 in to it in the past 2 weeks. (Battery, 2 coils on seperate occasions, serp belt, valve covor gaskets, etc) The most recent thing was the PCV valve and tubing. The 90 deg rubber hoses were cracked, collapsed, and leaking vacum. I replaced the hoses as an assembly that comes with the PCV valve. The parts are from the dealer. Ever since I replaced the hoses and PCV, the car will die out around corners and when braking. I thought the IAC might have had to adjust over time to the removal of the vacum leak that was there for a long time, but I'm not sure that is the case. The idle also seems to be a little lower than normal.

Any help with my on going saga would be appreciated.

Thank You

I've heard that sometimes the replacement PCV valve has an extra vacuum port. If this is the case, did you plug this extra port?

Also, have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset the PCM?

Have you done a vacuum test?

I surmise it's possible the IACV was normally in a different position with vacuum leaks than without. As such it may be 'sticking' or the port may be restricted. Or it could be that the PCM needs reset as Bill suggested.

Here is the PCV the top line gets blocked off with the the cap included. Also you can use starter fluid to find the leak as engine will pick up speed if it sucks any in thru a leak.

No, I have not checked vacum yet. Does'nt the idle get higher when there is a vacum leak in a fuel injected motor? The pcv valve came with the hoses from the Ford dealer. There are no extra ports that I have found. I will try ressetting the pcm by disconnecting the battery. Thanks guys.

Not necessarily - I've had the AFPR vacuum line off many times adjusting the fuel pressure with no great difference in idle speed. Heck, you use a vacuum 'leak' when you suck in "SeaFoam" and the car is not idling crazy.
