was wondering if anyone who has upgraded their system has kept the factory jbl speakers or if youve upgraded i have a new deck and amp and subs but not sure if i should keep the factory speakers or upgrade them.

I have done both.

For whatever reason the aftermarket speakers lacked the JBL bass response but the subs made up for it.

I would recommend just adding subs and a "deck" of your choice. It will sound good.

+1...just don't send too much power to the stock speakers. They are not high wattage units.

I put the Jensen touch screen in, all new wires, 400 watt amp and new pioneer premiers. I have yet to add my two 10'' Infinity 1030watt subs though. Added fold down seats though so I am excited about doing the subs soon.

No comment because I have proof it wasn't the alternators (all 9 of them)fault.

I too kept my factory speakers when I upgraded the HU to an Alpine and it sounded good for me. Eventually I upgraded my speakers though. I think I blew out the factory amp and I lost sound through the factory speakers.

I finally got tired of my stock stereo issues(would'nt turn off, casette only 1 channel, 10 disc player inop) and installed a pioneer cd player. I used a schosche multi adapter FDK 106 for prem. sound lincoln mk viii it uses the pioneer 45watt per channel built in amp. to feed the factory amp. it works well!! at 1/2 power its louder and better sounding than the stock system! if I crank it beyond there the factory speakers start to lose sound quality.best hour I've spent so far!!

I just finished doing a complete sterro upgrade on my 98' LSC. I personally installed a Kenwood Cd / MP3 / IPod /etc. head unit, (4) 6 1/2" Alpine mids, (4) 3 1/2" JL Audio Tweeters / Highs, a 1000W RMS Alpine amp and a DVC 10" Alpine type "X" sub. I did all of the work myself, one peice at a time, in the above listed order. IMHO, the stock speakers are s*** and I can't believe that JBL actually allowed Ford to use their company name on those supremely sub - par speakers. The stock amps, however, are actually pretty good. They are all that is powering my (8) in car speakers, (the amp is for the sub only) and the volume and clarity is unbelieveably acceptable. I would leave the stock head unit and upgrade the speakers if my budget only allowed for one or the other. Like I mentioned earlier, I did ALL of the work myself, and recently at that, so if you have any questions about fitment etc, please feel free to shoot me a P.M.
