sticking in park

any ideas why my 2001 towncar is sometimes very difficult to get out of park?
Sometimes this can take over 5 mins! Any help appreciated.
 
it is possible to disengage the mechanism that locks you in Park... pretty easy actually but it is MUCH better to get your BOO fixed. Too many things depend on knowing if that pedal is pushed...
 
Also, if it ever happends again, just turn the IGN key to "ACC" and shift it into neutral, than start the car. This will prevent you from getting stranded until you replace the brake pedal switch.
