stock MAF questions

Hey guys, I was cleaning up the intake tract today and noticed that my stock MAF doesn't have a screen. Is there supposed to be one? Also, I heard if you position the maf in a certain position, you will get more power. Any truth in that?

No, the stock MAF does not have a screen. As far as having it in a certain position for more power, I think you may be referring to 'clocking' an aftermarket MAF by loosening the hose clamp(s) and rotating the MAF so as the sensor is in a different path of the airstream.
