Strange Shift out of First

I've noticed off and on that when I drive off after the car sitting over night or for a long time it has a hard time shifting into second -- almost 4000 rpms before it shifts. It does this one time and then the rest of the time it is fine. It doesn't do it all the time but usually after sitting several hours and just that initial time.
Any thoughts?
 
Had your fluid changed lately? Think about a flush and make sure you get Mercon V synthetic! Or pick it up and replace it yourself. Don't forget to drain the Torque converter,
 
I would think your issue is the 1/2 accumulator. You need to have it checked out make sure the spring is not broken. Even though you have a 98 it does happen. Also how is the fluid level and color?
 
Have you ever changed the filter and cleaned the pan and drained the TC? I understand that it may be attractive to not drop the pan and just let them flush clean fluid thru the system, but it doesn't remove the debris in the bottom of the pan and in the TC, or replace the filter. Mercon V is a Synthetic fluid. Be sure if you are getting a flush only that you are going to get it as some shops tend to shy away from using Mercon V due to cost and will use Dextron/Mercon feeling they are in the safe zone in doing this.
