Thanx Chopper.
97K on vehicle,I've done the usual,wires,plugs.
Did some hit and miss items,ECT sensor,PCV valve, even tried a new fuel pressure regulator.A vacuum test was done and the 4/6 is reading 17-18 in of vacuum.Ford wants 99$ to do a diag, and with all thats been spent so far I may just have to take them up on it.
Once the plugs were changed ,I noticed a marked improvement.Could that oil leaking onto plug cause such problems?

Well if all else fails,a diagnostic test can save a lot of headaches. But if there is a small REPUTABLE shop that you can use then I would go to them. They are usually less expensive and will give better service if they are a truly REPUTABLE shop.Get a raport going with the shop manager and the mechanic that will be working on your car and let them know your expectations ,"I don't want to spend alot of money","This car is driving me crazy",type of thing. The oil on the plug should not be a problem unless it has established a direct short to ground.Although marginal grounds will short out rather than jump the gap at the plug under heavier load conditions.
