Well, the only thing would be traffic through Sacramento and the bay area, probably won't be snow in The Sierras.

Hi all,it looks like I won't be able to make it in July, last Thursday I had a mild stroke and
the section of my brain that controls my speech was damaged.

I was in hospital for three days while they did a MRI to see had bad the damage was and I will have to take speech therapy to get my brain to use new cells, its like teaching a new section to replace the damage part, I know what I want to say but the words won't
come out my mouth, they say it could take a year or more before I will be able to hold a conversation.

I can read and write fine, but cannot get the words out of my mouth.

Just pray I did not have any other problems, can still function normally.

Take Care

Cecil

I'm sorry to hear about your stroke, Cecil. I am glad to hear that it was, in the grand scheme of things, minor. No doubt a very frustrating experience. You have my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

On the bright side, I wouldn't advise writing off the cruise just yet. I don't talk much anyway. :)

Regards,
Mike

Oh no Cecil! I'm sorry to hear this! I hope you have a speedy recovery and best wishes. Keep up posted if you change your mind. Like Mike said, you won't be talking much while we're cruising around although you always loved to tell jokes. :)

I figured I'd better bump this thread and make sure everything is still in order.

I've been making the final preparations for the trip, and I plan to do the drive in two days with an overnight in Laramie, Wy. that would make it a 14 hour day, and an 18 hour day. not too bad.

Cecil, how's the recovery going? Do you think you'll be joining us?

Hi all, I am back to normal, just every now and then some words get me and I have to slow down and think before I open my mouth.

The doc say's no long trips for a while untill all tests are completed and make sure the medication is doing it's thing,so it look's like I will be missing the cruise, but my thoughts will be with you guy's

Take care

Cecil

That's too bad Cecil, good to hear everything is looking on the up an up for your recovery though!

That's not too bad Mike, you making the same trip back?

Cecil, I'm glad to hear of your quick recovery. Too bad the doc is "keepin' you down" for the time being. Better safe than sorry, I suppose.

J, I think it will work well. I'm still comtemplating leaving wednesday night, and making it to Omaha or something, to make for a couple slightly shorter days. We'll see.

My return trip I hope to be vastly different. I'm talking the whole following week off to do some backpacking in the Tetons. (hence my post in the "glovebox.") I'm really looking forward to spending some time in the mountains again.

which reminds me. I ran into someone in a coffee-shop over the weekend, who lived in your area for a while. He tells me I need to check out "black sand beach," the town of "Bolinas," and "Mt Tam," If I bring my mountain bike.. The sound like they are all in about the same area? Any thoughts? or did he just see my long hair and tell me to go where the hippies are. :D

Cool Mike, sounds like a fun trip back! I've never heard of those areas but I'll have to check on your other post and see if I can recommend anything.

Man. there's so much to do! I'm really not sure I'll be able to fit the bike, *and* the backpacking gear in the trunk..

heh. I do have a roof-rack for the Mark, but I've only had it on once. I didn't really like how it looked.

Hmm..

Slap on the trunk/strap mount one. I have one that I used on my Mustang, Lincoln and the Rodeo.

Yea I bet space is tight with that seat skin and nascar trunk lid you are carrying for someone! ;)

hehehehe the word is out! don't forget the floormats and chairs!

Sooooo.....head count? Looks like it's only going to be about 4 Lincolns, that enough to constitute a cruise? Haha!

I'm in! :D

I'll have two days of "cruising" coming and going, but I signed up for a cruise, so I'm all for it.

Does anyone else live in the area we can harass? Cecil, can I write you a fake Dr's Note?

I *could* leave now...

I am thinking of leaving now...
