Supras are no joke...

RE: Supras are no joke...

Heres a little recap of the Big Texas Supra meet held this last weekend. My friends name is Dana Westover of Virtual works.

TX2K4 by MVP - EVENT RECAP
WOW, I've finally found the time to sit down, go over the meet in my mind, and type up a recap. First things first, thank you so much to the sponsors, without all of you, the meet would have NEVER happened! Brenda Blach (my lovely wife), Dusty Womack, Tim Iacoli, Eric Cayton, Darin Wyborny, Bob Helms, Ed Paez, Prashant Patel, Brian Denham, and Ryan Hoskins, special personal thanks to all of you, without you, I would have never made it through the meet!!!!

The week leading up to TX2K4 was hectic for me, I had to work until 6 pm the of the 17th (wednesday). Immediately after work, I went over to the host hotel to see who was there already. By the time I got there, there were probably 20 supras in the lot. I got a chance to meet up with some old faces (Brian Denham, Tim Iacoli, etc...) and also finally got to meet several folks i'd never met in person (Ryan Hoskins, Albert Diaz, Eric Cayton, John Firth, etc...). That night, a group of us went to eat some chinese food and my wife and I called it a night after dinner. I had to be up at 4 am on Thursday to make it to the gate at TWS early. I had several housekeeping chores to take care of before the start of the road racing.

Thursday, TWS Road Racing
This event scared me the most, there's something about 150 mph straights, 90 mph corners, and walls that made me UNeasy. In the end, I must say, that this was the most exciting part of the meet for me. No one got hurt, no one hit the wall, no one damaged anything, overall it was a HUGE success. I got feedback that the instructors were GREAT, and that all the driver's were impressed with the level of maturity that was displayed on the track. A personal thanks to SW, Jeff Watson, Justin Nenni, and Andi Baritchi for being instructors! On a side note, SW put about 175 miles on his viper and 150 miles on other people's cars that day! I don't think he had more than a 1 hour break during the whole day!!!!

Friday, MTI Dyno Day, Show n' Shine
This event took the most out of me, I was tired and cranky b/c i didn't get much sleep the night before. However, this event was also the one that ran the smoothest. The show n' shine was going on during the dyno day, so if Brian or Ryan could chime in on the show n' shine, that would be great. Overall, a great display of RWHP. The average RWHP was over 725 rwhp
Here is a list of dyno results taken from another post:
1. Tim Iacoli - 829.2 (nice solid pull on the 74 GTS)
2. Eric Cayton - 752.0 (new motor, still not fully broken in)
3. Rich Baratta - 429.3 (BPU)
4. Mike Carlin - 754.2 (only ran 32 psi, spun the tires!)
5. Mike Gibbs - 357.0
6. Peter Blach - 1131.6 (wow, who is this guy?)
7. Ryan Hoskins - 604.8 (clean clean clean car!)
8. Stacey Barnett - 1013.0 (TT vette!!!)
9. Jason Styles - 1200.0 (510 ci, 16 psi on blower, 250+ rwhp shot NOS on a viper!!!)
10. David Stima - 643.0 (nice, through a TH400)
11. Lar Prebis - 1007.7 (no NOS, unlocked convertor)
12. Dana Westover - 836.3 (not sure what to say, low boost? no NOS? who knows)
13. Ryan Woon - 891.3 (sand bagging or is that it?)
14. Saad Saad - 1057.0 (impressive number, spooled fully around 6700 rpm, LAG MONSTER, no NOS)
15. Marshall Morgan - 696.9 (nice solid pull)
16. Orin Bivens - 541.2 (would have made over 700 if car was tuned for TX)
17. Matt Haynes - 772.4 (impressive on 71 GTQ)
18. Tony Poorman - 458.2 (solid BPU)
19. Larry Bryant - 334.2 (nice MK1-MK3)
20. Henri Fatovic - 584.9 (good number)
21. Dustin Robinson - 321.0 (auto BPU)
22. Matt Miller - 776.9 (wowsa, on the alphabet soup)
23. SW - 694.6 (not too shaby for a lexus!!!!)

The winners of the show n' shine are as follows:
MKI-MKIII
Best audio, best interior, best engine, best overall car - Trent Johnson won them all!!!!!!!
MKIV
Best audio, best interior, best engine, best overall car - Ryan Hoskins won them al!!!!!!!!

Saturday, RCR/SAR Drag Racing Event
The event started off on a bad note - RAIN!!! The rain stopped and the track went hot at 1 pm (rather than the scheduled 11:30 am time). Immediately, we started the "fun runs" which went from 1-3pm. During that time, I organized and ran the 6 - speed challenge. The field qualifyed as follows:
1. Ryan Woon - 10.19
2. Gary White - 10.26
3. SW - 10.30
4. Matt Miller - 10.36
5. Son Nguyen - 10.43
6. Stacey Barnett - 10.63
7. Tim Iacoli - 10.63
8. Saad Saad - 11.47
Round 1:
Ryan vs. Saad - Ryan wins with a 10.1@146.39
Gary vs. Tim - Gary wins with a 10.3@141.73
SW vs. Stacey - SW wins with a 10.4@146.87
Matt vs. Son - Matt wins with a 10.9@139.58
Round 2:
Ryan vs. Matt - Ryan wins with a 10.219
Gary vs. SW - Gary wins with a 10.211
Round 3:
Ryan vs. Gary - Ryan wins with a 9.80@146.77 (I think that's right)
During the whole challenge, the quickest ET got the lane choice... Ryan talked the smack, and backed it up during the 6 - speed challenge.

The results from the official classes were as follows:
MKI-MKIII class
1st - John Nguyen with a 13.29@112.42
2nd - Pao Vue with a 14.44@100.07
Class 1 (Stock Twin Class)
1st - John Hein (don't have the time)
2nd - Tony Poorman (don't have the time)
Class 2 (One power adder class)
1st - Matt Miller with a 10.19@142.68
2nd - Eloy Lucero with a 11.27@124.76
UNLIMITED Class
1st - Gary White in the Titan Motorsports car with a 9.25@150 (thereabouts)
2nd - SW in the RSI car with a 9.90@150 (or thereabouts)
Fastest MPH - Gary White in the Titan Motorsports car at 159 mph
Quickest ET - Gary White in the Titan Motorsports car at 8.7

Personally, the most impressive and consistent car was the Virtual Works supra owned and driven by Dana Westover. That car ran about 10 passes b/w 9.14@153 to 9.25@151. VERY IMPRESSIVE car, fully interior, street supra (with the exception of the cage and chute).

Thank you all for making the meet what it was. Without all of you who attended (and more importantly brought your car!!!!!) we wouldn't have a meet! Till TX2K5

Its long but damn impressive.
All the ETs seemed to be down a bit from the Vegas meet they had.

Power seemed to be down a bit too.I wonder how the air was.My friends car made 840 RWHP with a 74mm turbo and he just made 836 with a 76mm turbo and a bigger intercooler.
