yeah, the in dash tach stop working and it is stuck at 1500rpm +/-, what do I need to look into, how could I get into the cluster to check it out. any ideas will be very well appreciated. thanx.

Can you tell if the needle is bound up on the black face of the cluster?

The dash is easy to pull. The center plastic piece around the cluster has a couple of screws, two up above the cluster, one or two behind the headlight knob and then you can just pull out the entire thing. After that just unscrew the 8 or so bolts holding the plastic cover on the cluster and it will come off. Then see if the needle moves freely. If it does then you'll have to check the tach lead from the PCM.

Another option is to scan for codes. Depending on the year of your car, you could have a faulty input sensor.

If you have a Gen1, there is a write up about the gage cluster removal in the tech section. Once you remove the gage cluster you can access the face of the Tach. It is very common for the black tach backing to lift enough to bind the tach needle. remove needle and re-seat backing and re-install needle on peg, then reverse procedure for re-install.
