Tail Lights 98

HAve someone step on the brake pedal while you get right next to the lamp with your eye. If it blinks on for just a 1/4 second, you need to replace the ballast. Aftermarket ballasy avail from a guy named glitch.

Go up to the Lincoln Tech folder and see all the help you get there.
 
Ok had someone press the brake (didn’t work) removed the liner from the trunk lid to fined the Ballast un-plugged. I pluged it in and I hear a slight ZAP and all the parking lights go out. I replace the FUSE and all the lights come back on except the Neon BUT I see light smoke coming from the trunk lid. I’m guessing it’s the Ballast that out?
 
Yep. Fuse blown = bad ballast. Find Glitch and it's a cheap (100 bucks or so) fix.
 
the ballast is on order yahh yahh yahh :). now i have a check engin light :( p0411
probly the fule filter never changed
 
I had that last spring..... ended up being my alternator was bad. Check the Secondary Air Pump fuse under the hood. Forget the number. I believe that is the code for the Secondary Air Pump.
 
LOL! First time I heard of a fuel filter throwing a code. :D

P0411....

Like Bud said, it means the Secondary Air Pump was NOT detected.

I have the complete breakdown and diagnosis process, let me know if you want it. I would recommend running through the diagnosis before you just start replacing parts. It pretty easy stuff.

Yeah, don't do as I did and buy parts before you know for sure. :confused:
 
Yah I rechecked the code after I posted. I went to autozone to run the code and they gave me p0411 but translated it incorrect ( low file presure) but I looked it up and got the corect definition

Did you disconnect the battery before you had them recheck the codes?
 
They gave me the code but looked up the wrong definition.Thats when my first thought was Fule Filter do to the wrong definition. I went home and looked up the corect definiton. I’ve since cleared the code so see if it reapers.
 
Lol Bud....for YOU maybe. :D I was only 18.

Some members put some sort of weight in their trunk, such as a lead bar, to replace the missing weight of the removed ballast. That way when you pop your trunk it doesn't fly open all crazy.
