Lexus being the #1 selling luxury brand is not a wannabe, believe me. All the other luxury brands wannabe like Lexus. :)

Why is this bad in an auto but a lot of people want their Politicians to be like this?

Nah..they don't look like Bangles work...if it did, it would have 2 inch gaps in the body panels. :) (see new 6 series.)

You know that I love the Infiniti M45 - a really beautiful car, as well as the Q45. It's just that Lexus is uninspiring and definately non-original. They copy Mercedes here & Toyota there, and a little bit of Nissan there, and have very plain interiors. They are neither ultra performance cars (such as a ZO6) nor are they inexpensive cars. They are middle-of-the-road, wanna be this and wanna be that, never stepping outside the box to rise to the top of the group, but always a "player" ~ They DO have excellent service, that they do. But in 2002, Infiniti beat them in that catagory as well, as Infiniti rose to #2 and Lexus fell to #3. Lexus are not bad, no - not at all, but they are not the world's answer to what the soverign pinnacle of transportation is, well, except if one is to believe Moe. Moe, do me a favor and please, please buy yourself a Lexus! I really want you to own one. Nobody deserves one more than you, as you really do love them. Trade that lousey American car in and get yourself some model Lexus. If "want" ever justified the end result, then nobody is more justified than you, to be behind the wheel.

I have owned 2 so far, and never been happier (LS400 and GS400)!!

Sandy, you wouldn’t understand until you owned one. Infiniti will never even come close to the Lexus durability and reliability.

Jesus, now instead of copying Mercedes' designs, Lexus decided to emulate Bangle. Didn't see that coming. (Look at the side profile of the GS, then look at a new BMW).

I don’t know if you know this or not, but it takes a lot of time to design a car, and by the time BMW had their 5series designed, Lexus was already done too. It’s not an overnight process.

Moe, Bangle started out with the (new) 7 Series a while back. After receiving extremely harsh criticism on the design, they decided to soften the look a bit for the new 5 and 6 series. Finally, (After two years) the lines are starting to grow on me. I think the new GS looks great, but the rear-half of the car is copied. (Which is not a bad thing, but rather, an amusing direction to go, after Bangle was nailed to a cross for that look)

lol, yes, I agree, but there are reasons why the trunk is that way, because at that design, you maximize passenger room, and truck room. If you look at the OLD GS, it never had a long truck line either.

Why did you dump them? (The 2 Lexus)
I like the style of the M45, and the PRIOR Q45.
But, I will not leave Lincoln, until Audi brings out the forthcoming S4 Quattro Cabriolet...at THAT point, I am gone from Lincoln.

I didn’t Dump them, but I had the GS400 for a summer while I was over seas, then I sold my 97LS400 because we have way too many cars on the driveway. I was on the hunt for a newer LS400 when I found the Mark, loved it, and postponed my search till I was finished with college.

So, you had the LS400 first, left it behind, went overseas and bought the GS400. Where is the GS, Now? Did you bring it back with you? Which did you like better, and why ?

I first bought an LS400 HERE, then went overseas for a LONG summer, and bought a GS400 (while I still had the LS400 here) then sold it before I came here (cant ship it due to tons of U.S. regulations, and Emission rules) then I came back here and was looking for another LS, a 98+, but while I was in the auction one day, I saw this mark, and liked it for the price (didn’t know much about them, otherwise I would of bought an LSC) and saved me a good amount of cash. I liked the GS's performance (the GS was newer). However, the LS was more stable at 155+Mph. Both had great ride and lots of power (the GS was WILD though). Both had great sound systems, very quiet ride, and I loved the gauges of Lexus cars. If you mean in any specific department, shoot.

My opinion is the outside looks like a typical bubble Asian import - but I like the interior - make that LOVE the interior.

Unfortunately, I find that most Asian cars have "no soul" - meaning that they do everything right - but they do it without leaving an impression. I don't know how else to explain it.

I like the gated shifter- very Jaguar-esque. Nice clean waterfall design to the dash. Don't know if I'd spring for the Nav system or not. Seems to be a commonplace option these days... much like the cellular phone was on the Mark. The wood accents are nice. Exterior styling's not bad... nice, clean design- but doesn't make my heart go pitter pat.

It's all subjective, I guess... For me, I absolutely LOVE the new Acura TL. Love the styling. Beautiful fit & finish... and Honda quality. 270 HP V6... Comes fully loaded & available with a 6 speed manual for under $34k. Whatta deal. Second place would be an Acura TSX for $27k. Only down side is that they're both front wheel drive... though I don't think it matters for most of us sitting in traffic or tooling around town.

Hey Sandy... did you take the Imperial to the beach? Someone left their blow-up rafts in the car! :) I always wondered where the low-riders got their interior inspiration from back in the 80s. Now I know. All you need is some crushed velvet, fuzzy dice, some murals, and the dingle-berries around the windshield & you're set!Crank up the mariachi band & call up Cheech & Chong!

At least it's better than some of those funky 60s & 70s brocaided (sp?)fabrics they used to use. Brings back memories tho... It's not my style, but I DO have an appreciation for it... somewhere.

What's the deal with the slatted thing in the center of the dash? Looks like a roll top desk. Is the bat phone underneath it? :)

That's funny because I just drove my friend's new A4 Turbo and I wasn't very impressed! (the Mark will kill it BTW) It's a DAMN handsome and fine automobile, but the ride was harsh and the car was just, well....small...I really couldn't see you rollin' in one Sandy. Now an S8 (or A8), they will definitely fit!

After being used to the comfort and room of the Mark, anything less seems subpar.

Oh yeah, love the new Lexus!

The S4 would destroy your car, and many other cars on the planet. Wedged into that little car, is a fire breathing 340HP V8. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds..1/4 mile in 13.4 Don't confuse an A4 Turbo with the monster S4.
