I had an intermittent 'chirping' noise from under the hood which I determined to be either the belt or one of the pullies. I slackened off the belt and found the idler pulley was toast. I replaced it and the noise went away. For about a day. I then removed the belt and checked the other pullies. None seemed to be bad so I cleaned them with a wire brush and put the belt back on. Noise was still there. Came in the house and did a search of this site on the computer. Found a post from a few years back where 'Driller' suggested removing the belt and putting it back on so it ran in the opposite direction.
And the noise is gone! Thanks, Driller!
