The Mark at the Track on Street Tires!

I would have run a bypass for the radiator fan but doesn't that thing draw like 90 amps or something crazy like that?

Starting amps is like 40 and running amps is like 20.

Mike, if you can't hotlap with that intercooled setup, I'm changing my plans. :p

lol JP, Don't change your plans :) The Mark is already neutered big time, and should be ok. I had Aric make it - what I call "OEM safe" when the new t-trim went in.

The car is still an animal, but I am not going to chase hp numbers or time slips any more. Otherwise, there would be a YSI, fuel system, and a roll cage going in the car - and that is not going to happen.

We never discussed hot lapping at the track, and before I try it, I want to make sure he has enough timing pulled out of it so I won't hurt it.

lol He will probably say - put some unleaded race fuel in it and go have fun for all I know. :)

Yeah, well I know how cool to the touch the intake was after a pass, so I doubt 3 laps will have any effect?

Devin, Yes, and the decision to do it was no. The car is set up to be low maintenance believe it or not. When Aric started the build, I told him that I would be doing a lot of long distance road trips in the car, and wanted reliable, low maintenance power.

He kept that in mind throughout the build. That is why there is no water to air intercooler, meth injection, electric water pump, etc. Those little electric motors and such just add to the possibility of some kind of failure.

So, just a huge air to air intercooler was used. :)

I talked to Aric today, and he said there should be no problem hot lapping and racing in True Street, other than the torque converter being cooked. He said race fuel would help also, and will let me know which one to use on race day.

All I know is, the cooler is from a big Ford truck F350? - plate style, and it has the deep well Ford Racing trans pan.

I'm glad that you considered all your options and didn't just reject things out of hand. I get dismayed at the number of times I have mentioned water/meth injection to guys that have forced induction engines and have them look at me like I've grown another head.

I am not too worried about the tc, but it will probably need a trans fluid change after Fun Ford :)

I am going to try and get back to the track again to work on launching on street tires before Fun Ford. So far, roll into the throttle off idle seems to work best. If I can get consistent 1.8 60's, I can live with that until I sell the bias ply MT ET Streets, and pick up another set of MT ET Street drag radials.
