The Mark Being Featured in a Magazine

Well everyone, The Mark is planned to be featured in a magazine. :) I am humbly flattered, that my Mark build intrigued the editor of two magazines. We have spoken, and a feature is planned for the final stages of The Mark build.

They will be following Aric Carrion with Injected Engineering, while he builds my new forged motor, the swap, SC tube work, etc. taking photos of everything along the way.

I will post stuff here, as they come up with this part of the build.

Many Thanks to Aric, Ryan, and Tyler with Injected Engineering, as this build is all about their impeccable craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

I also would like to thank Mr. Will Smith, with Buckaroo Communications - Ford Builder and Super Rod magazines for making my day :)

Will Smith, I love Fresh Prince of Bel Air, haha jk.

Congrats on magazine articles. So you're not happy with a supercharged Mark, now your gonna get it fully built? I envy you Mike. Congrats once again, always cool to see a fellow enthusiast recognized. I'll have to pick up a couple copies.

Are their any superchargers that bolt-on the intake manifold rather than the centrifugal superchargers? Arent those more powerful? I bet that alone would get you in the low 11's. My uncle has a 67' Firebird that runs 7's with a 14-71 Littlefield blower.

That's great Mike. It's about time one of our Marks got in a mag. I would lock the car up in a safe place until the shoot and check on it often just so nothing happens to it before the shoot. Don't know if you remember or not but while I was in CA MM&FF tried 3 times to get both my cars in for shoots. One thing after another caused the shoots to be canceled. I was approached again here in FL but they were hoping for something more than an NA engine so I don't think it will happen.

Congrats Mike,it's gonna be cool to see a nice Mark VIII in a car magazine.

It's a hunting for #1 spot on the list :D and someone has to be the first one to get the mark VIII into 10's :D:D:D

Thanks Everyone! :) I am thrilled to say the least. Aric has already sent a Teksid block to the machine shop last week, and has all the engine parts on order. Let the fun begin! :) Stay tuned...

Congratulations Mike! That car certainly deserves being in a mag.
It's a big thrill to see your car in a magazine.
I hope you're not listed in the phone book. The looneys came out of the woodwork when mine made it last year. I got calls from all over the country and one call from New Zealand asking where I got some of the parts on my car. I had two offers to buy it ...and some guys just wanted to talk about cars.
The article told what city I lived in and had my full name. The rest is just an internet search away.
Good luck..

Mike: So, you will be in Ford Builder, Super Rod, or both? I really want a copy of whatever you're in!! Will it be a while until you're in print

Thanks again, everyone! :) I spoke with Ryan today, and he said the engine block should return from the machine shop next week.

FLM Fan, Thanks for the heads up. :) I am excited to get this going.

Rene, I have not been told which magazine the Mark will be in yet, but when I do know, I will post it. This feature is going to document my new motor being built from the ground up, and installed in the car. And since the engine block is still in line to be machined - the very first step when building a motor like this one, it will be probably another couple months at least, before any decision is made to publish the story. Nobody has told me this - it is just me thinking out loud :)

Leo, I would love to go to Carlisle. I have been wanting to go for years now. Problem I have is, every year something has always come up that takes precedence. I hope that changes this year. :)

Update - Spoke with Ryan@Injected yesterday, and it will be another week before the engine block is done. Tim Lynch at Pro Line Race Engines is doing the machine work on the 302 stroker kit. People who follow Outlaw 10.5 drag racing will recognize the name Tim Lynch. He is the man :)

The heads and cams are also on there way to Pro Line and Barry Doyle is going to refresh a set of Aric's heads and cams. Not sure what cams are being used, but I suspect they will not be Mark VIII grind cams.

So, before anything is set up with Will Smith for the magazine article, all this preliminary stuff needs to be done first. More to come in the next week or two... :)

lol Rene :) Good work takes time... :) The bottom end is done, and back at Aric's shop. Here are the pictures of it. I do not have the spec's on everything, but I asked Ryan some general questions, and he said it has a forged steel crank shaft, and all the stuff I mentioned before like the 302 stroker, Manley rods and pistons, ARP bolts, etc. The heads and cams are still at Pro Line, and as soon as they are done, Aric is going to put all this stuff together. :)

lol JP :) Yesterday was the first time that I had seen the block. Don't you like the scruffy junk yard dog look? Keeps em guessing at the track...
