well, i already had a big debate about this car on another forum, with lincoln and caddy owners, and of course, i got the typical response from the lincoln guys that im stupid, i'll be sorry, its a big mistake, the car is garbage blah blah blah, well i didnt care what was said i bought it anyway. its a 98 cadillac catera, or opel omega, call it what you want, its got 76k on it, runs and drives really nice, needs a few odds and ends here and there, what 10 year old car wouldnt, the problem with the car is the common catera problem, the engine oil cooler is leaking causing oil to get into the coolant, its a $220 dollar part big woop! i know these cars had a bad rap, so what, its for my wife she doesnt drive hard or far, so i know once i fix it it will be good to go. i bought this car for $400 bucks, why on earth wouldnt i buy it bad rap or not, if something ever happend i can easily make money off this car, i could double my money right now selling it as is all day long. so i dont think i made a bad move at all. this is replacing her green mark VIII. plus it will be much easier to load the kids in, better on gas and honestly i think its a better looking car that her 93, then again i hate green and tan!! here it is.

$400 bucks....sweet! If its not the engine oil cooler then it could be those stupid plastic intake gaskets.
 
I think it looks nice, and it'll be much more practical for her uses. And with you around to fix things, what's the problem.

Congrats, but really, get another Mark soon. ;)

i dont need any convincing lol its sitting in my shop so its a done deal, and trixie i'm not sure if you know this yet but my mark days are over, i wont be getting another one anytime soon, as soon as my two are gone thats it time to move on.

$400, good deal. I take it you did your research, so I wont bother to tell you how much my roommate sunk into his in the first 6 months. At $400, who cares! LOL
 
exactly, i have already heard everything bad under the sun about the cars, and just what you said, who cares, for 400 bucks i'm not in the least concerend, no different than the marks VIII's they all seem to be money pits too. every car has its share of problems, the lincoln people say the catera is a junk, the catera people say the mark VIII is junk, in my eyes, at some point in life, ALL CARS ARE JUNK.
 
That is very true. Man for $400 bucks you can't go wrong. remember when these came out. it was sleek sporty sedan. The car will pay for itself in the first month. If you had a car payment. hopefully you understand what i am tring to say because I don't LOL Junk or not you got a steal. you got a Cadillac for the price of a escort (car) don't get the wrong idea people

Whats wrong with it? looks sharp, is small like the LS, and has a cool interior like the Mark. I'd drive it. Probably gets better MPG than the mark did.

I had a loaner 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix for 2 days from the GMC dealership while my truck was in for warranty fixes, and i alreaady miss driving it.
Was a fast little sixer and got great milage and ran great.

I saw good find and steal man. I like it.

So ahhh Eddie....what are you doing hiring escorts? JK I know...the car.
 
I'll tell you that the Catera is junk and it has nothing to do with me driving a lincoln. I work in the car parts business and a little side work for cadillac and I'm telling you, the Catera is junk. ;)
 
thats ok, i dont care, i could sell it as is for 1,500, and after i fix the oil cooler and flush the coolant i can pull 3 grand + for it, there is no way i can lose on it no matter what i do, so, its junk that could make me one hell of a profit.
jeff to answer the question whats wrong with it, the engine oil cooler is bad and its puking oil into the coolant, it happens to all the catera's, easy fix.
 
Dude! that isn't a caddy, it's a 95 Saturn with a conversion kit........ JK! 400 bucks! nice. Thats what I got my 96 crown vic for

Cool, if it's an easy fix for you. Car looks good and has nice interior. 400.00 is a hell of a deal i say. I agree, somone will easily give you 2000.00 for it on ebay or autotrader once ya fix it. I'd keep it for a bit if it were me though.

A car is a car. They all break in one form or the other. You can drive a Yugo or a Lamborghini. Just depends on what youre willing to pay for gas and maintenance/esteem/personal preferance.
If you do the Maint yourself , then theres more loot left over to spend on gas and mods. :) Especially when your car has no car payment. You don't really care what breaks on it under 500.00. (this doesnt happen every month) Think of all those people paying monthly car payments at 495.00 to 650.00 for the sportscars and luxury ones and pat your car on the dash for a good job of hauling your but to work everyday and get her another oil change and tune up. I say good find...
