The resurrection of a 93.

A dear friend of mine named Bob purchased a neglected 93 Opalescent/Light Portofino Mark VIII.
The car only had 71k miles, had been sitting and had transmission issues. He bought it and shipped it to me to bring back to life. First go-round had it all ready to roll when the tranny decided it was done-for. I thought it had survived with a simple flush and 1-2 update/Mercon V. Until 100 miles later it let go. So I had to swap a used 95 trans into it.

The rest of the store is below:

Now I can officially say the car is done.
Today is DELIVERY DAY.

Last Saturday we drove the parts car in for butchering, pulled the transmission, pushed the car out of the stall...drove the SNOWFLAKE on to the rack, pulled the bad transmission, flushed the cooler lines, installed the donor transmission and drove it off the rack.
Sadly, the transmission we took out of the 93 had a sticker on the top of the bell-housing "Factory Ford Rebuild" - this car only has 71k miles on it...WTH???

Anyway, when she was done I test drove the vehicle and checked all the vitals....and drove it home.
Yesterday I spent a couple hours doing some final finishing...including repairing the front license plate holder(shop dog thought it was a tasty chew toy for some reason).

So in closing:
-removed chrome wheel arch moldings and buffed paint back to color where they were mounted for decades.
-new stock height Eibach coil conversion, Monroe rear shocks with new solid upper shock mounts(from American Air Suspension)
-new Motorcraft fuel filter
-Autolite 764 copper plugs and plug wires
-Mercon V trans fluid with 1-2 update performed on a used, swapped in tranny
-4 new Cooper tires and 4 hours spent cleaning the snowflake wheels
-Pioneer Bluetooth CD player
-replaced stock JBL amp
-rebuilt the power antenna using 3 used ones
-fresh oil, coolant, and R-134 freon
-painted calipers FORD red
-detailed engine compartment and beauty cover restoration
-complete interior detail with Lexol treatment to seats
-and yes, even new wiper blades.

Here she is:
1993 Opalescent with light Portofino Blue interior.

The guy I did all this for is my great friend and owner of the Mustang I drove for years...

His Mustang drag car

So, another chapter comes to a close. My wish is that he would tint it...it truly does have that "fish bowl" look with the blue interior. But he's in his mid-60's and cannot see very well at night with tinted windows, and it is HIS car, so....

Only thing I didnt get done is the exhaust. He wanted BULLETS on it like my Marks had...problem is, the muffler shop I use is nowhere near my work, and they are closed on weekends, so I had no chance to get them done. He'll get them done in his home town when he gets the car back (Oakdale, Ca).
