Ok, I need help. I was driving my 94 mark VIII a few weeks ago, and the speedometer needle started bouncing. I hit a bump, and it fell to 0 mph. I removed the speedometer today and replaced it with one that I know works, and still nothing. the fuel gauge and the tach still works.....what can this be? also, I have noticed that the average MPG is now at zero as well and doesnt seem to read.....could these be related?

Your speedometer is driven via input from (I believe) a drivers side wheel sensor, not the tranny gear. Take a look under there and make sure you haven't ripped it off somehow....

The 94 is still cable driven....I think. Sounds like the cable broke or the speedo gear broke. If the ABS sensor malfunctioned, he'd have an ABS light too. :)

Mine's bad too....

Mine's bad too....

Hi all, my speedo isn't working either....but my cruise control and the trip computer do work.....could this also be a bad cable, or more likely internal to the speedo?

Thanks in advance.

Dan...I'm pretty sure the Gen 1's use a speedo cable. On the other hand....it could even be a bad speedo gear. If you jack up the car, the cable (or electronic module) is on the back of the transmission (tail shaft) on the driver's side. It will be the rear most sensor/cable on the back of the trans.
