today after rebuilding the front end in my black 93 i take my car to tire condom to have the allignment done and 5 hours later i get it back and for 89 bucks i have a car that pulls to the right and my front tires are now set back so far in the front wheel wells that when i turn left or right the tires rub the inner liner. i cant believe this. this is why i dont want anyone going near my cars, if i could do it myself i wouldnt let anyone allign it. tomorrow morning the car is going back and i am going to make every duche bag in there wish they never applied for the job. i love what money gets you these days, a simple allignment but mr cigarette man who was working on my car had one thing on his mind, to hurry up and punch out, i wouldnt mind punching his ass out myself now. and people wonder why i am always in a bad mood, this is the crap i deal with daily.

I swear only the dealers have the right specs. Mine too had the front tires WAY back, not as bad as yours, only a slight rubbing. Dealer does it and they look great. I dunno..... I thought computers and lasers were suppose to make alignments easier. I guess you cant make anything easier for a chimp in a garage suit.

heres my green 93, untouched by Tire Condom:

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?????? is there a problem somewhere.

It's a shame people take such little pride in the work they do these days. I have to agree with unity -- unfortunately, dealers are often the best (with obvious exceptions, as with anything, of course.) Not just because they have better techs (though they often do, from my experience) but because the equipment is better and/or presumably calibrated properly.

One of my cars (non-Lincoln) is never right after a simple rotate/balance... shimmies like crazy, no matter what tire shop I take it to -- I've even personally watched them zero it out -- still not right. Even after a new set of Michelins it's still not right. I take it to the dealer and it's perfect when I get it back, everytime. I assume one of the wheels is out of round, but still. If I had to pay the prices that some of you do at dealers though, I'd deal with the shimmy. :)

That's a bummer, Jamie.... hope you give em hell and they make it right. There's no excuse for that.

When i did my front end, i marked every thing up, took it to Meineike, gave them the EXACT specs that i wanted doing for all 4 wheels. Guess what? They didn't touch a thing and charged me 100 bux. Apparently everything was already ok and in spec:confused: Im either THAT good, or they are lying, thieving B.. stards! Never again. Might get my own alignment kit like billcu has. Give 'em hell Jamie! A.. holes.

i just wrote an email to the corprate office and told them what i thought of their work and also told them that i will be contacting new channel 8's " on your side " about this so no one else gets porked like this. i'll see how they enjoy that email.

Take it back and see if they can get it right.

From personal experience Mark VIIIs are VERY difficult to align... I have taken both of my marks to at least 10 different places over time... and most do it wrong... the steering wheel isn't centered or car pulls.. this includes 1 dealer that I have had my car at as well.

Thankfully I found this great place right near my house now. They did an amazing job on my vette and got my gen 2 well within spec.

I found them through tire-rack.... Check the site they have great reviews for install places.

well the verdict is in, they took it back this morning and im sure the retard at the counter didnt expect a morning welcome from me, after a few choice words, i left the car and got a call around 4 pm saying it was all set, i went back and guess what, tires are still shoved back, and this guy says well the car is all in spec and there really isnt anything we can do about it. oh really?
i said ok, lets go inside then and get my keys, so he hands me my keys, gets a kid who worked on it to talk to me, the kid says he did everything he could, and if i want, he'll pull it back in and try some more, he said i'll do my best, i said i see your best, and it isnt good enough, so i grab the keys and the manager says do you want your reciept i said no wipe your ass with the reciept and walked out, so after i get in the car he runs out and knocks on my window, he says sir what would you like us to do and i said nothing, you already had two chances, how many more do you need? i said i contacted your corporate office and i'll deal with them now and he says sir you didnt need to do that and as he continues to try and talk to me i cranked the radio up and lit the piss out of the tires leaving there, he was standing in a cloud of smoke with my paper work just watching me drive away. my buddy adam told me they fired the whole crew there and hired all new guys, he had a friend that worked there till they all got canned, he said if i knew you were gonna go there yesterday i would have told you not to. so i drove over to the ford dealer across from my shop and didnt even say anything to the guy, i said just tell me what your eyes see, he said your wheels are too far back, i said ok thank you, im not going nuts, i said can you guys make it right in one try, he said absolutely, so i made an appointment for tomorrow bright and early, now im gonna get my money back from wild condom and maybe then some. bastards. sorry if the language is pushing it, but im pissed now more than yesterday.

While I can agree with your disatisfaction, the manager was obviously trying to appease you - the customer. That's part of their job. I'd be willing to bet you could've gotten some if not all your money back if you just could've calmed down and leveraged your experience with these cars rather than throw a tantrum.

i didnt throw a tantrum at all, there is absolutely no reason that my car should have been on the rqack twice, and attempting for a 3rd time, if they would have just put someone on the car who knew what the hell they were doing, and as far as the manage trying to appease me, his exact words about my tires being shoved back were " there is nothing we can do about it " now i dont know about you, but thats all i needed to hear right there that the morons working there, including the manager should not be working on car, thats like sitting down for a nice steak dinner at a fancy place, and getting your plate and seeing a dead fly in the middle of it, would you eat it if the server said " theres nothing we can do about it " ???

if i threw a tantrum, i'd be in jail right now.

I aligned my '48 with two 6 foot yardsticks, some bungies and a 1/2 inch wrench, but those days are long gone.

I have yet to ever have my Mark aligned. You have me worried now!

I think alignments are the ONE thing I have no problem going to the dealer for. Even more so after reading this.

My dealer charges $90 for full alignment.

i didnt even ask Flammer Ford what they charge but at this pint i dont care what it is, as long as i pick it up tomorrow and its right, then i'm taking the before and after print out over to wild kingdom and getting my money back from them.

well the car is fixed, thanks to the trusty ford dealer as much as i hate stealerships, they got the car right, and in one try, charged me $103 and they unplugged the cruise switch while it was on the rack. my numbers were off the charts, they gave me a before and after print out and said they couldnt believe that tire kingdom said it was alligned. so i took the print out of to wild kingdom and got my money back and a sincere sorry. alls well and never going back to tired condom.

Wow. Glad all is well.

Like I said before, I dont think these places have the right specs.

One time they tried to align my specs to a Town Car? WTF.... LOL

well tire kingdom tried blaming it on me for lowering the car, the ford dealer said no problem after i told them it was lowered, they didnt have a problem at all. the day manager at tire kingdom blamed it on the guys there, he said they dont teach these kids how to do allignments correctly, they just throw them into one of their locations and thats it.

That's just pathetic... I don't know what else to say. I guess I got lucky-- the Allen Tire right down the street from my house does a beautiful alignment on my Mark VIIIs for something in the area of $80. I'm glad it all worked out for ya, though, I was starting to get pissed just reading your posts. haha
