i got a lead on a pair of tires cheap but dont know if they are too big, my wheels are 18x9 can i fit a 295-40 on it with no problems? i had 285-35's on it for awhile with zero issues so i should be ok right? they look like steam rollers lol!!!

That tire is 27.3" tall. Stock tire is 26.6" tall.
285/40/18 is 27.1" tall and fits somewhat wide on a 9" wheel. 295 is even wider, and honestly too wide for that wheel, unless you don't mind the steam roller look ;)

Make sure your 1/4 lip is rolled, or it's tire cutting time. Even with a roll it will be close.

Personally, i'd look elsewhere. You want 275/40/18 for that wheel size and width.

my buddy sent me a text a little while ago and says he has a pair of nice 275-35's i had 285-35's and thats too little sidewall for me i dont like it. i got a brand new set of tires for the front tonight, but i have a slightly bent from wheel, so i want to change all 4 tires and move the slightly bent wheel to the rear of the car so i cant feel it in the steering wheel anymore i am sick of it! i'll do 275-40 i just gotta find some that i feel arent retarded in price. my pilots on the rear are still decent but they are so soft they'll be dead soon, specially after i put my 4:30's in it in a few weeks all i will want to do is light them up!

well i settled on a whole set, almost brand new trade in take off's from a mustang. my buddy gets tires from dealers, if you trade your car in and the tires are not the o.e.m size on the car they rip them off. i got four Hankook Ventus R S2 tires 245-40 fronts and 275-40 rears for $300 bucks cash. i wanted a 255-40 for the fronts, but for this price, and 4 matching tires that are as close to new as i can get no way could i not do it. i'm picking them up after work tomorrow. they have a nice tread on them too i hate having mix matched tires on my cars just one of them dumb things! i currently have falken's and michelin's on the car i hate that! putting the new tires on, rebuilding my entire front suspension, getting the car aligned then putting in my new pumpkin with 4:30's and trac loc, thats replacing my 3:73 trac loc diff . i'm ordering a set of mickey thompson drag radials too for a stock set of 16 inch snowflakes then its off to the track finally.

That's a good size combo, just watch the curbs with that front wheel, as the lip will be somewhat exposed.

Are your quarter lips rolled already ?

Thats the same combo size I had on my 17x9's. It worked out good aside from the fact that you can't rotate if you have directional tires.

i cant rotate now either so that wont bother me. my rears are rolled jeremi, and my front tire is already a 245-40 so i know about the lip, i kind of hate how the lip is exposed a little, but i havent hit it yet. our roads are nice there isnt much to hit except the road going to my shop so i putt down the 1000 feet of road until i pull into my shop. i was wrong about the tires i picked them up today after work they are the hankook ventus v-12 EVO's but the tread is the exact same as above they only have 6000 miles on them they look like they are right off the shelf. i got a hell of a deal i am happy.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 tires. 275/40-18 and 245/45-18. Couldn't be happier. I even autocross with them. Good all around tire and inexpensive too!
