tire size

RE: tire size

225/60-16 is stock.

225 is the width(mm). 60 is the sidewall height ratio(i.e. 60% of width). 16 of course is the rim size. The sidewall height is calculated by multiplying the sidewall ratio times the width. The overall tire diameter is the sidewall height X 2 plus the rim diameter.

So 225/60-16s are about 8-7/8" wide, 26-5/8" diameter.
And 225/50-16s are about 8-7/8" wide, 24-7/8" diameter.

Actual dimensions are usually given by the manufacturer.

BTW, you could probably run this size but I would not recommend it - just my opinion. I would stay at stock size as a minimum.

RE: tire size

i have been looking for a short time for new tires w/ a nice tread pattern and the only one i have found is a 245/50/16 ,so i am thinking of getting them bfgoodrich g-force t/a's any one have pics of their treads either 255 or 245 thanks

RE: tire size

I've used 245/50/16s and 255/50/16s on stock wheels with no problems. The 255s are a little wide but OK. I normally ran 255 in back and 245 in front. I no longer have the mark but my new car runs the same tires stock (225/60/16). The wheels are only 6.5 inches wide rather than 7 inches like the mark. I now run 235/55/16 in a V rated Falken 512. They are very nice tires.

RE: tire size

I want some 17's but does anyone know whether or not the wheel clearances are identical for the 1998 Marks? I have the stock air suspension system also. Thanks for your help.
