It was opening day last sunday at us 41 Dragway so I took my DD 1998 lsc CE to the race track. My best time was 14.38 and my best mph was 99.78 .Last year it run 14.5 at 96 with only K&N cone filter and U pulleys. For this year I added SCT mail order tune from Logan Motorsports. So I think the Mail order tune was good for another 3+ mph but my times did not improve much because I had problems with traction and I could not do better 60' time than 2.25 VS last year 2.15 but I am so happy with the MPH.

Very nice MPH! :D

I was pretty well into the 13s before I hit trap speeds like that. :)

Those are some great times dude. Do you notice any problems with the UD pullies? I have always been nervous about getting some of those.

I had U pulleys on my Black mark 8 for about 2 years and I have U pulleys on this one for over 1 1/2 years and I have no problems with them.If you have custom stereo system I would not recommend U pulleys.

Nice ET and the MPH shows your Mark VIII is making some good power... did you ask for anything special on your tune or did you just tell them your catch code and they sent you one?

I have seen a lot of discussions going both ways about if U pulleys really make much of a difference or not.

I don't have any kind of fancy stereo equipment but I DO run nitrous... however I am thinking that since it is only on for 12 seconds or so that the battery absorbs most of that hit.

Mike had an extra SCT excal 1 laying around and we went to Logan to get his blown mark dynotune and the tuner said that he just had a pretty much stock mark viii on the dyno machine few days before so he loaded the the tune from the other car on Mike's Excalibrator for $30.
Btw I'll post few pictures and couple videos soon .

Is it just me or is something wrong with your 14.3 run's mph? Anyway good times, your dd is faster than mine :(

That was the opening day for 08 season and the track sucked big time,no prepare at all, even cars running slicks couldn't get any traction.Timing boards didn't work and their slip printing machine worked whenever it wanted ,that's why some #s on the slips are missing.

What rpm do you shift at?

I shift at 6800 from 1st to 2nd and I finish the 1/4 mile in 2nd at 6500+ rpm(stock 3.27 gears)
I tried to shift at different RPM's and my times were always slower than shifting at 6800 rpm. I think people with headers and Exhaust can shift a little higher than me.Those engines just like RPM's. My brother in law has 96 cobra and he is shifting close to 8000 RPM and runs 12.8 with few bolt ons(stock gears ,stock exhaust manifolds ) but cobras have little better intake cams and better intake manifold.

I always shift at 6800-7000rpm as well. The stock Beehive valve springs start to float around 7300-7400 rpm so i'm suprised your friend has no problems revving to 8000rpm in his 96 Cobra.

I am gonna try that the next time I race. I always shift at 6000. Maybe my times will improve a little if I take it up a little.
