tranny cooler

I know this has probably been discussed quite a few times but I used the search and couldn't find what I was looking for (a straight forward answer). Is it better to connect the tranny cooler in-line with the OEM or can it work good enough by itself. I bought a B&M with a built in fan and 160 degree thermostat. Figured that should be able to deal with anything I throw at it.

RE: tranny cooler

There are different opinions on this but I believe the gerneral consensus is that if you live in a cold climate then put the cooler in-line (so the raditor will help warm up the fluid on cold days) but if you live in a warm climate then use the cooler as a stand alone unit. I live in Maryland and just used mine as a stand alone unit.

RE: tranny cooler

I live in minnesota and I don't have a winter car yet so I ran the tranny cooler in line with the normal cooler.

RE: tranny cooler

I have always ran them stand alone. I had used a block heater in my car in WY but still had the tranny cooler stand alone. No problems even when it was 20-30 below.
