Tranny Problems

I have a 93 mark VIII that is giving me some problems. It started with a long 1-2 shift and if I shift it manually it will slip in second. When it does shift on it's own it appears to skip 2nd gear altogether. It will also downshift at almost any speed and stay there for a bit. Anyway I dropped the pan and fluid looked good and wasn't much in the pan either. I updated the 1-2 accumulator and performed the j-mod. Well after I did this it's still doing the same thing and I think my intermediate clutch or something else is shot.

I have found a 98 tranny that I would like to put in it. I know that the main connector needs to be re-pinned and I have the diagram. Is that the only thing, I keep seeing that the MLPS is different also? Do I also need to re-pin this connector and if so is there a diagram for it?

Thanx:)

You should be able to reuse the MLPS from the older tranny. You can also reuse the '93 internal wiring harness and electronics instead of the new circuit board style and not have to repin the tranny bulkhead connector.

I just got thru doing this...I think it's much easier to repin the main plug. I put a 98 in my 97. Oh. I used the 98's MLPS, but I also think the Gen II's (97 & 98) are the same.

How about the TCC solenoid? According to info I have read it states that you need to modify the valve body some and install a 92-94 TCC solenoid, otherwise the TCC will not engage.

Well I pulled the old tranny out this weekend and like I thought the one way clutch came out in pieces. I'm amazed it lasted for 15 years, seems very fragile to me. Haven't tried the 98 tranny yet, waiting for some new mufflers.
