Trans issues I think

I need a little help. I think I m on the right track but would like another opinion. I am experiencing what feels like a miss. I have noticed at cruising speed 55- 60 that it feels like the engine or trans is cutting out. Plugs and wires were changed today. It needed it any way so I figured I would rule that out. Fuel pump pressure test is next but I dont think that is the problem (will post results) Im wondering if it is bad transmission fluid or accumulator piston problem. Oh yeah it is a 1993 Mark with 140,000 miles on it. I dont know any history other than the plugs and wires. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

ok fuel pressure is 32 at an idle, alternator is saying 14.2 volts with lights and ac on and there are no codes in the KOEO or the KOER tests.

Fuel pressure at idle with the vacuum hose connected to the fuel pressure regulator is probably close, but an accurate test of fuel pressure is with the vacuum hose disconnected.

The real test is that the pressure stays up when the engine is under load. This requires a test gauge with a long hose and a co-pilot. Hook up the gauge and tape it to the windshield where a passenger can monitor the fuel pressure while the driver takes the car through its paces with several WOT runs to load the engine.

I will check that. I just changed the fuel filter with no improvement. It has good Acceleration, and top end power, just it seems like it goes to neutral and then kicks back in to gear. doesnt seem like a fuel problem to me though. I am not ruling it out by any means though.

Well if it IS dropping into neutral and back into gear its the MLPS. A.k.a., neutral safety switch. Driver's side of transmission, fairly simple to replace.
