i just purchased a xcalibrator 2 from lonnie. i do everything the instructions state and have no problems untill after the tune and i give it WOT, my car feels real slugish and down on power but if i return to stock its completely fine and runs like it should there is no idle problem and no other problem besides when its wide open. has anyone ever had this problem or have an idea what it may be?

Hmm how old is your fuel pump? Maintenance items like plugs wires etc?! Any mods to the car?

A tune will exacerbate a condition you may not be aware of yet.

fuel pump is good the pressure is fine, plugs and boots are only about two months old, but now that you mention it making unknown problems worse i had a problem with the car when i first baught it cause it was underpower and had an engine hesitation and its exactly what it does when i tune it, ill just have the ford guys take a look at it again cause there the ones that fixed it in the first place.

IMHO and from what I have seen in the past..

it's going to be 1 of two things..

Either your MAF is bad or your fuel pump is weak at WOT.

seen it only about a hundred times, problem pops up after a tune and 99 times out of 100 it's going to be the MAF or the fuel pump.

and I'm speaking from experience also.. as I had it happen to me.

How about the pressure regulator? Could it be on its way out. Just thinking out load, from what I have seen they usually fail fast but as long as we are talking fuel/air....

theres a good chance it is the MAF now that you bring it to my attention becuase i had put on the larger MAF and conical form supercoupe and my motor wouldnt run right with the larger MAF housing but it ran fine with the stock one so i left the stock one on and slap on the conical.

Dang. I paid $30 for mine. But you have the stock MAF and this conical, right?

I would look at the MAF for sure then and as XL said, call Lonnie if cleaning it does not help. Fuel readings at WOT would be nice too.

yeah its the conical from that kit with the stock MAF, i test the fuel pump not to long ago and it checked out fine ill do another test on it though anyway.

Lonnie will probably have you do some quick tests anyway. It would be nice for you to have some answers to questions we know he will ask anway.

Is it a wet filter?

fuel filter is only a couple months old, it was one of the first things i replaced when i got the car

My car was running real real rough after I got my SCT chip. Pulled the chip and it ran normal again minus the exhaust leak sound. Then a couple days later back to running like an old pick up. I just had my fuel injectors serviced, 5 month old fuel pump, fuel filter replaced, and my plugs/lifetime wires have less then 15k on them. I am thinking 1 of 2 things, EGR/EGR components or exhaust leak.. maybe even both. Couple more details: the check engine light comes on if I put my foot into it, Just had my new transmision/TC installed (ruling out the exhaust leak sound for a plugged TC sound, which even the guys at the shop thought it sounded like.)

Hope the details helped man. If you want to start with something small, check your Vacuum lines. Not even sure if your tuner bypasses EGR..... anyhow hope that helped.

I assume you told Lonnie all the mods on the car.

I agree with the others, either fuel at WOT is down or MAF is pegged. That is when you demand the most in fuel and air. If the fuel pressure doesn't stay up under full load or if the MAF is pegged at full flow - you will experience what you describe.
