I own a 97 mark 8 and I was wondering if anyone here has had any problems with the turns signals in the side mirrors mine don't work sometimes and when they do work all the lights in the mirror won't work and sometimes when they do work the number of working lights will decrease every flash intill they all stop working? Anyone know whats going on?

RE: Under side mirror turn signal

Pull the mirror out, and check out the connections. Never had any problems with mine, BUT, I see a lot of dirt trapped behind that plastic, and I don’t know how to clean it out.

Welcome to the board! Post a picture of your car so we can all see it.

This may sound sillly but when you see this behavior are you looking at the signals from the driver's seat or from the outside of the car? The lighhts are aimed in such a way as to not interfere with the drive so most of the time you can't even see them.

RE: Under side mirror turn signal

Yeah I got out of the car and looked right at them and only a couple of the lites work and with time they will die out and I did notice that it might be worse when its real cold out. As far as pics I don't have any yet but I will post some as soon as I get them.
Thanks

Yeah it does happen on both sides but the driver side is a lot worse then the passenger side the passenger side one works more often but again when it does not all lite works

RE: Under side mirror turn signal

Dont mean to Hijack the thread, but when his question is answered, can someone tell me how I can opne it to clean that plastic in front of the turn signle lights?

RE: Under side mirror turn signal

Adjust the mirror to the innermost position. Carefully slip a long, thin screwdriver in the outermost edge - behind the mirror, and release the plastic tab on the plastic light cover. clean, clean the led lenses, and snap the cover back in place. Just be gentle.
