Vacuum noise with new Filter.

I installed a Conical K&N that I cleaned and sprayed with the K&N oil. Also have the upgraded metal tube that holds the MAF for the lack of a better word. I've noticed that whenever you get over 3000rpms there is a whining sound that sounds like a vacuum leak. I checked all connections and they are tight and snug. Is this because of the shape and design of the filter? Or because i'm getting a leak somewhere?

Sounds to me like you have bypassed all the factory resonators built into the air inlet tube assembly.

Mine makes a whistling type noise at idle but I can't hear it at 3000 over my exhaust. I think it's just the design since you said all connections are secure. You did get a conical adapter so you can mount it properly right? Also, the filters come pre-oiled...

I know the filters come pre oiled... but as I said i didn't get a new filter and i cleaned the filter and then oiled it. Since i got the New MAF adapter too.

You will have more 'intake' noise with that setup vs. the stock setup. Just be sure you are not hearing a leak at the intake tube connection to the throttle body where the rubber gasket is.

I like the way the new setup sounds. Yea well i'm pretty sure everything is tight since tighting things more around there would break the clams.
