Valve cover gasket removal

I'm in the middle of replacing the valve cover gaskets on my 94 mkviii and I cannot figure a logical way to remove the pass. side valve cover. I've moved the A/C hoses out of the way, and everything else it looks like it could hit on. Seems like I'm being held up by the shock tower at this point.

By everything I've read here the driver side is supposed to be the PITA, so whats the trick and please dont say jacking the engine.... unless there is no other way I guess... help??

So, how did you get the pass. side cover out?? is there a trick?? something I'm missing? I just can't seem to get it past the strut tower.

I don't remember exactly what I did, but it was just tilting it a combination of one way or another before it came out.

Shouldn't be anything else in the way besides that ac line if you disconnected it from the shock mount stud already. When installing have somebody gently help you seat it to avoid getting that 8mm dot of silicon spread on your timing chain. It isn't a easy seat so pay attention to how you pull it off I always pull top off first then bottom or installation bottom first then slides towards you to drop down over chain and seat.

well, I went back and wiggled it around some more, and it came out!!! get the new gasket in, torqued it all down and its running... but worse than before. I'll update on that in my other thread though, thanks for the help.
