Voltage regulator

Do these cars have voltage regulators? Do they often go bad ? I have not had this problem before, but when i start the car the lights get bright and dim then bright and dim very quickly. I replaced the alternator about 4 months ago and this has started happening recently. The red battery light does not come on and this does not seem to effect the performance at all. Any ideas ? Any info helps.. thanks.
 
The alternator has an internal voltage regulator. Sounds like you have one of the diodes gone bad.
 
Internally regulated alternator. If you're lights are being effected I highly recommend you test the charging system and stop driving the vehicle. You definitally don't need power spikes running through the VCRM or the ECU!
 
Yeah thats what im worried about. It goes away when i get on it, but damn i need another alternator again, gay.
