Walbro 190 giving trouble after 6 months

I replaced my fuel pump in my 94 with a Walbro 190. I had trouble doing it because all of the directions I read stated that I just had to drop the tank. I couldn't drop the tank all the way without detaching the exhaust pipe.

Either way, I put the pump in and it worked very well up until a few weeks ago. Now, I hear the pump turn on when I first turn the key, but then my car doesn't turn over on the first attempt, it just cranks. When it is done cranking, I can hear the pump engage again, after that it starts on the 2nd or 3rd try. It sounds like the pump goes through 3 stages before it works and the car starts.

The only thing I can think of that I changed was my altenator. I put a 130 amp 2nd gen altenator in a few weeks ago. Sometime after that, the fuel pumps started giving me trouble. What could this be? I don't want to have to drop the tank again.

You need to diagnose the fuel pump with a fuel pressure gauge, not by sound.

When you turn on the ignition, the fuel pump runs a second or two to establish fuel pressure. The pump will cycle on/off with cranking or cycling the ignition on/off. It does not run steady until the PCM detects a running engine.
