Warm re-start problem - solved

Its been awhile since I’ve had a problem with the Lincoln. She mostly stays in the garage, comes out on weekends and road trips. On the way back from a road trip last month I parked it in the driveway, unloaded everything and went to start it up about 30 min later. It started up normally, choked, and then died. Odd, its never done that before. Then it started up again, found itself and all appeared well.

Fast forward, now every ‘warm’ restart it would do this. I figured the original 20 year old fuel pump was done, so I replaced it. No change. Great. At least I have a new fuel pump.

Did some searching here on the forum and found that this is a common IAC problem. The IAC on the car I replaced in 2010 with an Auto Zone unit. Of course, now it is out of warranty. I bought a new one – replaced it, now all is well.

I’m getting ready to do a 5 state 4,000 mile road trip (Ca, NV, CO, MO, NM) later this week and figured that I would replace the two heater hoses back there before I go, as they are the only two original hoses on the car. What a complete bear those are. They make the IAC seem like a walk in the park.

Anyway, just thought I would share my experience. The IAC from AZ that I bought 4 years ago had a 90 day warranty. Now it is lifetime, fyi.
