Waxes? Polishes? Cleaning car stuff.

HI,

What is a real good wax to use that will bead water real good? Or should I be using a polish and what kind? And how about cleaning the engine. What has other members used, and how about the dash?

For engine cleaning.

Cover the Alternator and electrical components.
Make sure engine is cold.
Spray on Simple green. Let stand for 15 min.
Hose off.

Car Wax:

Make sure you use a clay bar before putting on wax. I've used Zaino (www.zainobros.com), i really liked the results but it is incredibly time consuming. You have to wait 24hrs per coat of wax. Zaino needs about 3 to be really shiny.
I've also Used Zymol, its easy to use, beads water for a while and you can put it on really fast.

I would use nothing but a moist cloth for the dash.

Depending on how bad your paint it here are my steps

if the car is hazy has swirl mark or light scratches

clay bar

Dual action cleaner polish by meguiers (use a terry coth towel in a strait line front ot back of your car work until it goes dry i usaly do it a few times sill all of the swrils are gone (you can also use a buffer here if you have the skills)

next is swirl remover #9 by meguiers i use a buffer or you can do it by hand with a terry cloth

then show car glaze #7 put it on by hand let it totaly dry remove with a microfiber

next is vannila moose by clearkote www.clearkote.com use a microfiber ehre let it haze up then buff it off

next i use vannila moose wax by clearkote

i like to top it with s100 found are you local harley dealer ship put it on and take it off before it hazes

if your car is not to bad you can start with vannila moose or show car glaze

And do not forget build in the time. This job is not something you want to do fast.

The Meguiars 3-step cleaner/polish/wax is always good for some really weird looks from the neighbors when they think you're waxing your car 3 times in a row. :)
