We should make our presence felt!!!

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

I might show up if they have some kind of "show" space where we could all park together, but probably wouldn't do the cruise. I assume there's more info at that site?

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

I have 10 spaces reserved... but to make sure we don't lose them we need to arrive early and together!!! there will be 80 other cars arriving!!!

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

Ok.. as V.P. I will support this. I think it would be great if all LOD-NCA members showed up together. However: I dont think my car is worthy of "show material". It is a black on black, mid 90's coupe with plenty of wear.

But, if it is a get together that us northbay guys can meet you penninsula guys, and cruise together to get to the "meeting point", park together, and cruise together, then its totally do-able.

Here's the drawback. Most of these "large gatherings" turn into a total cluster______. The organizers collect the entry fees, and basically let it go from there. There is uslally little or no organization what-so-ever. You end up with Mustangs, 49 mercs, chopped, lowered, custom painted hot rods, a few nice trucks, and about 25 model A's, all dressed in their "car club poodle skirts, and fuzzy dice".

If this thing can turn into a "catagorically seperated" cruise/park and show/gathering, like a mini Carlisle where "like" cars are catagorically organized, then I think this could be big.

Let me know. Brenda and I have been to plenty of car shows with our classics, but most of them either have "trailer queens" that have enough "best of show" awards to burry 10 mark VIII's with.

We need a get together soon. I feel like we are losing touch with eachother. I think Bobber forgot who I am, and Obby has been working on his car so much, we probably wont even recognize it!!!

Let me hear what you all want to do. Like I said... I will support this, if its a group decision.

Stanley... congrats on the car show. Remember, you already won the moment your showed up there. Its the judges who didnt realize that!

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

As far as I know this is just a cruise no money will change hands just a fun car cruise....I think it would be great to show off our car club.......

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

I already added this event to my to list..... I think we need Jackets what do you think?

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

Craig,
Sorry, I did forget you!

Not really, just busy doing nothing worthwhile. If Stanley goes with John to lower his car maybe I will do the same. My new compressor which works well, sounds like a lawnmower, so maybe if it is a bit lower it will work less?

Bob :)

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

I am not going to lower my car and risk bag failure... I am happy just the way it is... I refuse to bow to peer pressure and after attending the ricer convention I learned to appreaciate my Detroit made beauty!! like one guy said to me at the Rice a Roni meet Thanks for bringing a real car to the show!!!

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

A-Men!!! I agree. As much as I like the way Scott's car looks lowered, I refuse to risk bag failure... for now. If someday I end up with a nice set of 17's or 18's, and a fat tire, and NEW AIR BAGS, then I'll lower it since the new bags wont have a "wrinkle" to them yet. I have heard that once a bag settles into its "wrinkle" location, or "fold", it can develope leaks if the "folds" form in a different location.

Someday. But Stanley, I agree. Besdides, I dont care for the look of my black, stock Gen 1 lowered. Just My opinion.

I would love a jacket! However, I have a certain style I would prefer, so if they end up being anything but, I will be picky.

I like "letterman" style, or "varsity" style jackets, and I really prefer Black. Thats me. But I would wear something else since my taste of outerwear tends to cost a bit more than "windbreakers".

Stanley... I feel like we are losing touch with our car buddies. I think we better do something quick!!!

Letterman style jackets with our own logo and graphics, a cruise, and a nice reunion of our LOD-NCA is DUE!!!

Obby... Bobber, John, Max, whatdya guys say? I'll start chasing down Hurley, and I need to grab this "coldasice" guy. He is local, but never seems to want to join us. I might have to pay him a visit.

Oh, BTW, Brenda's car is done, and we are getting a chip next week for her. Beware... the hot rod girl is getting faster!!!

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

Guys,
I am up for a jacket as well. I will look into Pangea in Petaluma. they do custome embroidre and other things. I bought from them when I did shirts and sweaters for work a few years ago.

There is also a company in San Rafael that my son knows about that specializes in custom jackets etc.

We need to be careful about costs and remember that the summer is coming, more months of warm than cold?

I agree that we need to gather in the members and more importantly recruit more if and when possible. Any ideas?

Bob

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

Ok...here's what I propose. Do you all have AOL? if not, how about a YAHOO membership? The reason I ask is... it seems there is alot coming up, and we havent met in quite a while. Plus, when we do meet, we are too busy eating!!!

I propose we set a specific date and time that we all log on to a "Live Chat room". We can create a "private chat room" on AOL that only we know about. If there is an evening that you all prefer to sit down online, and enter a private chat, we can save alot of time, and get alot of stuff talked about to expedite our up and coming event status.

Any evening, between 7:00pm, and 10:00pm works fine for me. Its as simple as logging on to AOL, or yahoo, and setting up for "Instant messaging". I can Instant message you with the link to the chat room, and voila... thise who are interested can join in.

Let me know. That way our chats are completely private.

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

I don't have AOL or Yahoo - if I can log in without signing up for another service, I will, but would really prefer not giving all my info to some new place, since I would not be using either of them for email or anything else, except this...you guys just keep me filled in - I'm open for anything, anytime, at least as far as the meet goes.

RE: We should make our presence felt!!!

John,
You can go to Yahoo and just download the Instant Messanger without changing ISP or committing to any other service. I also use a program called Trillian at Trillian.com. Their IM will interface Yahoo IM, ICQ, AOL and MSN IM's all in one program. It is a free progrm and no obligation to any other service.
