A friend of Mine and I are thinking about building our own website very similar to this one, an enthusiest website witha main page and a forum, etc. The problem is I really don't know where to start. I've built a couple webpages, but they were always hosted somewhere else. We are wanting our own domain.
When it comes to this, i am a complete rookie. I know i can register a domain with places like godaddy.com, but does that require they host everything? Am I able to host from home, or would bandwidth issues interfere? (i have roadrunner cable, but i don't know what the needs would be hosting a website) I'm sure there won't be many visitors for a while, if it ever even takes off. Can I charge for advertising? What would be an estimate of costs for such an adventure? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
