Wed Night Drags

I will be there on April 9th, probably in my gf's 2006 Jetta running in sport street but if you come out I will come say whats up and give you some pointers. I'll be back in my 98 LSC probably the week after on the 16th. I will have my 4.30 gears and trac-loc installed by then... Gates open at 3:30 and you really wanna get there at that time to get the most time runs possible.

Serge...you cant "change" a reaction...it's a REACTION...if you need a better light, roll in slightly deeper. You have 7" of starting line to play with. if you want to see what I mean, when JACKPOT goes up to the line, watch them stage...watch how slowly they turn on the second yellow...that is so they are in (as close to) the SAME spot every time.

BUT...the deeper you stage, the slower the ET...keep that in mind...but REACTION...is just that...it cant be a "shot" or a "guess"...it has to be a reaction...if you want to speed up the light, get closer to exiting the beam...

you KNOW I'll be there...

Serge...both of you...come find me when you get there.

Great post Craig!

Consistant Staging will carry you a long way!!!!

otherwise you cant be sure if your car slowed down, or if your RT's slowed down {due to AGE *JK*)
But if you can consistantly "hit the same spot" on the starting line, your gonna make alot of the questions "go away".

most people think the Finish line is the important line.. and the 1/4 mile clock is the important clock
IMHO the starting line and the 60 foot clocks tell you more than the finish line and the 1/4 mile clock

What I meant was I staged shallower than on the previous runs and also tried to be more aggressive on the tree which resulted in a redlight -.024.

Might sound stupid, but "dont try".. just "DO".

if you "try" to do it, your not being consistant.

need to find the right spot on the starting line, and leave at the same time on the tree every time.

If you need to "adjust", then either stage deeper or shallower and they just "react" to the tree.

Trying to "stage shallow" to cut a better time, along with "trying to cut a better light" will only foul up one or the other of the times.

consistancy is the key...

I raced the 2006 Jetta again last Wed, it was not running as consistent as last time. It was running 16.76-16.85 and on one run I forgot to turn the traction control off it ran a 16.92. Then some car spilled anti freeze all the way down the track and the car was dead cold on the next run and it ran a 16.56 which was the first round eliminations. My dial is was 16.73 but fortunately for me the WRX who had a 14.1 dial in red lighted so I had a free pass. I knew the car wasn't going to run 16.5 back to back but I had to lower the dial anyway because temps were getting colder. So I dialed in a 16.65, I went up against an Integra with a 15.49 dial in. Unfortunately, the car spun off the line and I got the worst 60 foot of the night and ended up running a 16.83 and he ran a 15.53, but I killed him on the tree so his margin of victory was only .08. I had fun anyway, the 06 Jetta has a 6 speed auto which is really sweet. The car was completely bone stock until yesterday when she asked me to put on a high flow muffler on it. I had a Dynomax Bullet installed to replace the stock muffler (which was huge). The car sounds just a little bit deeper but it has a huge resonator which mutes the sound well. I can feel the car picked up a little bit of horsepower though and the weight savings is nice as well. The car should get slightly better MPG now as well.

I really want to run my 98 LSC back at the track since I got the 4.30's and trac-loc, but I have to get my brakes done first. Until then I will be racing trying to win a trophy in the 06 Jetta haha.
