Weird brakes in reverse.

When I am backing up the car and hit the brakes, I feel a jump and hear a little "pop" like the calipers are rotating about a 1/2 inch or so backwards with the rotor. Any ideas on what this could be? There seems to be no play in the bearings, or tie rod.

Hummm.

Missing caliper bolt?

Missing Caliper bracket bolt?

Cracked rotor?

RE: Weird brakes in reverse.

Nope, driving foreward seems normal as far as braking goes, just in reverse.

RE: Weird brakes in reverse.

Do an inspection to make sure everything is put together properly, but some noise is normal. There's a tolerance built into the pads, and some are a little smaller than others. If there's enough play, you'll hear the pads shifting rearward when you first hit the brakes in revrse.

RE: Weird brakes in reverse.

Looks like a bad upper contol arm (the ball joint is GONE). We'll see what happens.

mine did the same thing - it was the upper control arm inner bushings were worn. new uppers fixed it all.
