What a rip off!

Still trying to hunt down a demon in the mill. A little stumble on cold acceleration. Checked the throttle body and cleaned it. Went to check the spark plugs and ripped a wire right outta the boot. Yes, I was holding the boot, not the wire. So now I'm trying to buy wires for the Linkin. Auto Zone has them for $90 but across town, so I'm having them transferred to my closest store. Called Pep Boys to see what they have and the said special order $112. Just for S & G's I changed the request to 96-98 Cobra.....still special order, but only $101. Sounds a bit dumb to ask, but aren't these the same motors? Would the Cobra wires fit? Why $10 less than the Mark wires?

To top this off, while I was pulling the intake tube, I lost the seal inside the plug for the intake air temp sensor. Looked for 20 or 30 minutes with no luck. Got off the motor and looked underneath just in case it fell to the ground and noticed a puddle under the car. Finger sniff revealed fuel. The puddle was right next to the passenger front tire. So I'm thinking fuel filter. Went to take the passenger tire and can't find my locking lug key. Damn the bad luck I had today. Plug wires come in tomorrow, then I have to wait until Monday to go to FLM service dept. They have a full spectrum of master keys. They will remove them for me and I'll just buy new lugs non licking type.

RE: What a rip off!

I ordered those. Totally forgot about Summit. Good price. These wires have been on for about 1 year and haven't come off for any reason. But there should be no reason for the wire to pop out like that. I would've loved to do the screamin demon coil packs and the custom wires for those but I couldn't see the point in paying nearly $300 for the set. I might go ahead and get the Denso Iridiums put in while I have the car down until Thursday.

RE: What a rip off!

You say you had the MSDs on there already for a year or so, and they broke?? If so, those MSDs have a 1yr warrenty I think.

RE: What a rip off!

No I had the AutoZone ones. This is the first time in a year I had to remove the wires and when I tried, one of them ripped right out of the metal clamp and boot. It left the clamp on the plug tip. I had to fish it out with needle nose pliers. Hopefully these MSD wires don't act the same way. I did have dielectric grease on the tips too. I saw it in the clamp still when I removed it.
