What brand front air struts.

I don't recall that i ever replaced my front air springs when i had my Mark VIII, but for the rears I used Suncore

Westar seems to have been the brand of choice but I don't have any experience with them to share.

I've got some very old Arnotts that are starting to leak and some newer Suncores I haven't installed yet. I've never heard of the Vigors but from their photos they look just like the Suncores. I've heard the newer ones are all the same, made in China. I had some trouble with the solenoids on some older Suncores, so I recommend you don't remove the solenoid when you install them. When you get yours, take a photo of them, so we can compare them.

If the photo on that website matches what you receive, it's probably a pretty good kit. The pair depicted for the front are the 97-98 OEM Ford configuration, which is generally considered to be superior. (and also nearly impossible to locate)

I'll be interested to see if instead they include the easier-to-locate version with the metal solenoid housing.

$2,928.50

Those are the newest ones to come out, the Gen 2 style. I looked up the ones he was talking about, they look like my Suncores, Gen 1 style (metal). The Westars look like that also. My old Arnotts are Gen 1 too, but the top cap is different on those. Those new Gen 2's cost more than my Mark VIII's when I bought them (except the convertible). I'll take my chances with the cheaper ones.

I recently saw that these were available now, I couldn't afford those. The Vigors you found look reasonable.

I want to start saving for the originals after I fix some other things on my 98 Mark VIII. I already ordered all the parts. I spent $2000 for all the parts.

From what I recall you can't get OEM for a long time now unless you can find NOS, and that is hard to find.

OEM has been dead for at least 10 years. Its the best option if you can swing the price for NOS. There was guy selling a set for 4000. He said it was a joke post when everyone trashed him. They are out there.

So, I got the front air struts 4 days apart. I installed the left side, turned on the air suspension and started the car. As soon as the compressor came on the solenoid came apart, broke where the air hose connects to it. I could hear the air blowing really hard. Turned off the car and then turned off the air suspension. When installed the right air strut a few days later I turned on the air suspension, turned on the car but it wouldn't inflate the air bag. I checked the other side, since the hose is hanging loose with the piece of solenoid still and now I can barely hear the air coming out and it feels really weak. Does anyone know what the pressure from the compressor should be and is there a way to check it?

Were you trying to inflate the right side with the left side solenoid still apart? Until you can get a new solenoid you need to plug the left airline somehow. Maybe use your old solenoid with the cable disconnected so it doesn't open to test the right side . I think these new fronts use different solenoids than the original fronts, they are similar to the original rear solenoids.

See above, I edited my reply.
Thanks, I'll try that when I get home after work. So if the line is open the compressor won't blow as much air? Or is it that the compressor is weak. I can plug the line with my finger and stop the air flow.
