The base Mark VIII is the designation of an non-LSC version. All 93s and 94s were 'base' models as there were no official LSC models for those years. It has nothing to do with 'options', as options were just that - optional. However, you will find most models came with most options available with the exception of the cell phone option. They were marketed as luxury coupes afterall.

In addition to what Driller said.In 97 & 98 models, the LSC's came with a true dual exhaust, better gearing (not much, but better) and were rated at 10hp more.
