RE: What is the Midwest anyway?
Well, all it really says in the Charter about chapters is this:
Regions (Chapters): Any group of seven or more members of this club may make written application to the Board of Directors for the right to form a Region of this club. If a charter is granted, the Board shall specify the name and jurisdiction. The Board may revoke the Charter at any time upon due consideration.
However, I think usually the people applying have to specify at least one officer (President) if not more, and I think usually have an area already set. In this situation though, since Ohio would be switching from the "Midwest", I don't know if anything special needs to be done.
Perhaps one of the officers can comment on this, or the BOD can make this clearer.
OK, so if we split off KY (3), OH (6) & WV (2) - that would make sense in a regional way.
Yes, those 3 states do a lot of regional things, so an 'Ohio Valley' LOD Chapter would make sense.
I would like to think I could find time to volunteer, but I would probably be lucky to find time to participate in chapter events, let alone run for an office and help organize something. What specifically would one need to start a chapter?
