So....I had a busy week of training.

Monday

Full day of training on "Street Racing and Engine Modifications."

Did you know....in California it is illegal to install any type of "adjustable" part on any pollution controlled vehicles. So, that means Fuel Pressure Regulators, Waste Gate Controllers, Blow Off Valves, and any type of ECU programmer. Even the Programmers that are "50 state legal". ANYTHING that adjusts the factory settings of Air/Fuel/Spark. Even MSD box's and upgraded coils, lol.

Also, you are required to have the original Pollution Control Devices installed on 1966 vehicles and up. EVEN pre-75 cars that don't require SMOG testing.

I can stop someone for loud exhaust (like I have been in the past) and ask to inspect the engine compartment. If they deny me, I can arrest them......I don't see myself going that far, but if I think they have a stolen engine or something thats a different story.

Now that I have the training, I can participate in Street Racing Stings. :D

I knew about all the funky CA smog laws from here and there.

I've got an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on my Mark...and have passed 3 smog checks at three different stations. Obviously the laws aren't enforced. On my 2nd check, I subtley (?) asked the shop owner if AFPRs were legal. I already knew the answer, I just wanted to see what he thinks and if he noticed mine. He looked up at me over his glasses and said he did notice my regulator, but admitted that he had one on his truck also. :eek: He doesn't sweat the little things as long as the cars pass the sniff test.

I didn't even have to bribe the guy...;)
 
Thats how you get it done. :D I'm sure he feels different about the imports, lol. Thank God for my smog guy....he helped me SEVERAL(every single, lol) times with the Shark and the Stang.

1938 Lincoln Zepher! One of the fan blades broke off and shot into his fender! He said, "I guess I have an excuse to paint it now!" This thing was all original. I think I surprised him when I started talking about it being a flathead V8, single barrel carb, and the fact that its gonna vibrate like hell when he gets that fan belt back on. He was re-installing it so he could drive it up onto his trailer. He gets out and says, "You where right, it was vibrating like crazy!" Lol! :D

This kid claims he "saw a deer in the road" and slammed on the brakes.......

The orange paint indicates the vehicle was already checked by fire and rescue and there are no bodies in it. :D
