What my Mark VIII cost in all so far

Out of curiosity I made a spreadsheet and figured up what my car has cost so far. I included the original purchase price, all parts, upgrades, maintenance and repairs. I did not include tags, insurance or fuel.

*drum roll please*

My 1993 Mark VIII has cost $9,501.48
I bought it in February 2001 so I've owned it 38 months at $252.00 a month.

I spend approximately $70.00 a month on insurance and $5.00 a month to keep it tagged.

I love my car but honestly I'm not sure it has been the great deal I always thought it was. I've only put 24K on it in those 38 months. (631 miles per month.)
I do consider my car part of my entertainment budget, and did spend $2500.00 on HIDs and a good Stereo, and $700.00 on tires, so it's not like all that money was just to keep it running. It has never left me stranded anywhere. The CE light isn't on, it looks good and everything works. It is extremely comfortable and fun to drive; I have drag raced it and autocrossed it with nary a complaint.

I'm going to have to spend more soon for some impending problems.
Money trap? Probably. But I've enjoyed this car and this site came with it, which adds a lot of value into the equation.

Just food for thought.

Ok..let's do the math.

$9500 so far in payments
$2660 in insurance
$ 190 in tags
$2500 in HID lighting (a best/needed mod on 1st gen)
$250 for a stereo? (you didn't say)
$700 for tires

Total: $15,800 or .65 cents a mile. Pretty good when you look at it that way. A mere .65 per mile for huge smiles, grins, and generally feeling like Queen of The Road. Sounds like a good investment to me!!

(plus you got to meet me, which really has a value so large it can't be calculated :) )

The 2500 was for HIDs AND the stereo Ron.Do the math again.
Its 64.7 cents which is like what 2.50 canadian LOL

2500 for HIDs???? where do you shop??

18 years of registration renewal @ $50.00 @ year... $ 900
18 services at Maplecrest L-M @ appox. $65.00 a yr. $ 1,200
Total =............................................ $ 22,100

Mileage = 655 or $ 33.75 a mile

The upgrade was preformed again, and some of the posts between the earlier upgrade, and the lastest one were lost.
