What should a 2nd gen mark run with a chip and DR's?

I was at Muscle Car Shootout this weekend and ran the mark.
to say the least i was thoroughly disappointed in my times.. my traps were good, just horrid times..
bested a 15.583 @ 91.71 with a 2.325 60ft
lots of 15.7xx @ 90.9x

what should a 60ft be on a chipped car with Nitto Drag Radials on? give or take.. my best 60ft was my 1st round bracket, where i cut a 2.305 60ft.. and let off around the 1000ft cause i knew i was too fast and coasted to a 15.589 @ 88.76 on a 15.69 dial in...should have stayed on it to see what kinda time i would have gotten..

You should be able to get into the very high 14s. Your trap speed looks slow, that indicates a less HP, have you dynoed the car? Was it a hot and humid day?

My best run was 14.81 with my exhaust done only. The day was very humid and temperature around 92 , I believe. ( Actually only visit to a track)
Hoping for some more visits..
Want to see if this Ram Air thing really worked a tad bit.

14.8 on a 92F day is pretty good.

That seems a little slow. Mine ran in the 15.4's with just a chip. I had a SuperChip that didn't feel like it added much power. Keep up the mods and you'll get there.

it was in the range of 87-91 degrees all 3 days.. not excessivly humid...
I have a fordchip in it, dyno tuned, 220rwhp, 208rwtq
my trap speeds were pretty much consistant with other peoples trap speeds who were running high 14's.
wasnt this car supposed to be a low 15's stock car? (being that 2nd gens are slower stock)

i just couldnt get out of my own way off the line..

I did a best 15.0x stock on my 2nd gen @ around 96 mph, on a warm day about 80 deg and a bit humid. Your HP looks to be on the low end of what most people would get. Did you weigh your car, and if so what was it?

BTW, if you had it dyno tuned, why do you still have a chip?

its not a "chip" fordchip burnt the computer directly, on the dyno...

yes i did weigh it, 3950 w/o me, with 29% fuel in the tank according to the AutoTap...

i should get it redyno'd though, i found out i had a clogged fuel filter, so maybe i left a few hp on the table with that...

How much does it cost to get your Car Dyno'ed ... and What are the advantages of this.
I'm new.. I wanna learn more

that clogged fuel filter will make a difference, also make sure everything else is up to date!
Spark Plugs
Air filter

i changed the plugs before the tune (End of May), and just put in a new filter this weekend before the drive to the track.. the new fuel filter went in there about a week after the tune..

maybe sometime when both I and the the dyno shop have a hour to spare, i will strap it down again and see what i pull again..

as for cost to dyno, it really depends on the shop. i think its $80-90 per hour where i go, i dont know exactly, because we rented the whole shop for 2.5 days :)

advantages, well if your just doing a pull, no real advantage other than you will get a sheet showing where your max HP/TQ is, how much it is, and your A/F ratio..

now if you do a dyno TUNE, that means yoru car is tuned right on the dyno, and the car is pulled multiple times to make sure your making as much power as you can.

Yea just wondering.
My uncle has a Dyno, and I'm going to see if he could Tune it too.
Hopefully.

I'm confident I could run 2.0s with drag radials. I've ran 2.1s w/o. Get those short times down and you're in the very low 15s, mid-high 14s on a nice, cold February Day...

i just dont know how i would get those 60ft's any lower with the car as is.. i did cut a 2.30 for a best, on the run i broke out, and would have run about a 15.2-3 if i didnt let off at 1000ft.. i had great traction off the line and no wheel hop.. what else should i have done to get better 60's?
i tried leaving both, off idle, and with rpms up to where it wants to push the car forward, and i cut better 60's off idle...

Launching this car is a much debated topic. I got a better launch by holding the brake right up until it was about to peel out. Not the entire time while staging, just right before I took off. I got wheelspin, then the tires caught and BAM - a 2.1 60-ft. Tried this a few times with very mixed results, mostly uncontrollable traction loss. With a hot set of DRs, I think I could make it work.

Most of my 60-fts were in the 2.3s as well. It takes a lot of practice to get this car off the line quickly and consistently.

The actual launch surface is a big variable as well.

my 60's were pretty much consistant 2.3x's, which i was happy i was cutting consistant times there, even if they werent particularly fast..

the last run, i heated the DR's up really well and maybe that had an effect. the track prep was unbelievable.. more than i have ever seen in 1 weekend there put it on the back bumper.. there was a fresh layer of VHT put down maybe a dozen runs before i ran..the track was better than i have seen it there in 5 years...brand new aspahlt might have something to do with it..
