What the hell!!??

Where are all the decent Mark VIII's at?

I see maybe, one a month, and it's generally in such poor repair, it's not even funny. I saw this pearl 1st Gen in Park City a little while back. Thing was slammed to the ground, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't because the owner wanted it that way. Cute blonde driver behind the wheel though. Apparently, clueless about Mark VIII Air Ride suspensions.

The other day, I saw a green 1st Gen that had the whole pass side fender caved in. It hurt just to look at it. Again, shot front Air Bags, (it had the high rear end syndrome), and in general beat to hell.

I haven't seen a Mark VIII in relatively nice condition (aside from mine, of course), in ages.

The last one I saw in nice shape, the driver was stand offish. Wouldn't even wave back, the bastage! (Can I say "bastage" here?). He just stared at me, pointed his nose skyward and kept driving.

Must be a West Coast thing, I guess? All the nice Marks must be on the East Coast roads. The nice ones on the west coast stay in garages. hah

There are a few nice ones around here. Two light Gen IIs, one has a rag top though. There are about four Gen ones and they look decent but there are two more that look like crap.

I keep seeing a beautiful Toreador Red one, a Gen II, but I can never catch the driver to ask if he'd be interested in our club. I've also seen a nice black Gen I; I only see one or two a week around here.

I feel sorry for the one I see at the grocery store now and then. It's an ivory Gen II with Octastars on it, but scuffed up, and always surrounded with grocery carts

I haven't seen even one decent Mark around here. In fact, I haven't seen another Mark VIII, first or second gen, since I got mine last year.
But.. I kinda like that. It does get attention when I park it somewhere.
I think all the people that bought them around here got old and drove 'em to Florida... where they still are.

Unfortunately the price of a Mark is getting low enough that they are being purchased by people who don't care about them and can't afford to keep them up. Many are decorated with simulated vents on the fenders and low profile spinners or some other crap.

Trying to be politically correct......

The Mark VIIIs are all between 10 and 15 years old now, so they are in the condition of most cars that old.

Yep. The vast majority are all driven to **** now. Good ones are still out there though... sellers demand some nutty premiums though.

Unfortunately, you are right.

Like the one guy who wanted what, 10 grand for a 98 with 40 some odd thousand on the clock? I saw it here in the "for sale" section.

I still see decent ones now and again around here. If I get a chance, I drop a business card on them. Not sure if anyone's actually checked out our site from it though. But I have 2 nice ones in my driveway, and sometimes a third. ;)

They're out there! I have a near-showroom condition '98 CE, all options with 17k miles. I suspect the few that are left are hidden away like mine in a garage. I take it out usually a couple of times per month... it always gets the heads turning! :D

They're not worth anything on paper at the moment, but the "survivors" always do well over time. Especially when the masses buy them and beat them into the ground. I've had random cash offers of $20-25k for mine already, so I know I'm not the only nutty one out there. :)

at all the slick willies

at all the slick willies

Jamies? Lol

At all the 2nd hand slick willies and fast eddies car lots. Also in the swap sheet and on auto trader theres some. Mostly driving by in car lots you see them all over the place.

I see an average amount of M8's in Northern California (most of them being stock and driven by older folk, but not abused). Only 2 have ever really caught my eye. #1: Jesse's, which I used to drive by every day and my best friend would mention how good it looked (before I got my mark and showed me the potential.) #2 being a 94 on 18's. The only problem he had, was that the rear window vanity trim... well I don't have to tell you guys :)

I just was enough people to own the M8 to keep parts in production......... I really like the looks I get, even though I have no rims and some paint fading on the front and rear bumpers.

Pretty much in 30 years no matter what I will own this car as my showroom/weekend car; Even if I pay 8x the cost of the current parts.

LETS MAKE THIS A CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and FLM Fan, I really like your Mark and how clean you keep it.
