whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

94 Mark 8

heres the deal. i bought my 1994 mark 8 for 1600 bucks last friday. it has 130,000 miles, a dented rear quarter panel busted tail light and dented bumper cover, busted passenger side rear shock mount, possible leak in the front end air system, some type of unsual electrical problem that i cant figure out, a bad battery, and possibly will need a new air ride system soon which i will probably go with the replacement shocks and lower it slightly. the engine and tranny run smooth which im happy about lol. and it has a slight jerk in the front tires when in reverse.
so my question to you guys is do you think $1600 for this car was too much? or do you think it was a decent deal?...
as you can see its gotta be a fixer up project car now, so i guess im gonna have some fun workin on it though...

heres some pics

I think you got a great deal. With a little maintenance and some body work, it'll be a great ride! :D

yea i thought it was a good deal to, seein how 94 mark 8's that are in good shape go for about 3000 or 3500. and what im gonna do to mine i probably still wont be puttin more than that in it. the only bad thing is i gotta sale my towncar to fix the mark 8.

RE: whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

My idea of a good deal is someone giving me 9 grand for mine :)

RE: whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

I bought my 94 that had some slight deer damage (fender dent, door dent, busted grille) for $1300 a few weeks ago. It has a few other small problems that I am fixing or have fixed. I paid $1700 for my 96 last November, but sadly it was wrecked by an idiot with a suspended license 2-1-05.

the car is going to be a money pit

thast alot of money right there

but for 1600 its hard to bitch

i got my 95 lsc for 26oo with blown air ride shot bushing ect and love it

sorry to bring up an old post but i had to brag. i picked up my 95 mark 1 owner, ivory pearl, almost mark for $900!!

front was dropped and turned out to only be a dryer issue. small dent in passenger quarter. with 150,000 miles.

Ok..I got my 94 with 159k from the orginal owner for $800, the tranny was starting to slip and wouldnt take off from a stop. Found a used 95 trans for $100 and put it in with the fluid filter and accumulator change..probably running at under $1000...runs and drives like a new car!!

That's gotta be frustrating for you...because it is such a good deal. I'd buy it myself, but my black 96 is almost as modded as yours already.

I have an idea you may not have tried. You could take the car to the drag strip with a "for sale" sign in the window and race it for an evening. The only folks who would most likely be interested in your car would be at the strip, and they might start asking questions when they see you pound out a couple Mustangs.

RE: whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

I sold it already, guys. Got $7600 for it, about a month ago now.

RE: whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

1600 is a little steep for that car. 1200 is a good price. I have owned 8 mark VIII's now. The last 4 I bought for <900. I bought a NICE black one 2 years ago for 1700 with 80K miles on it with 400 worth of stereo that I sold.

RE: whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

I got mine for 600 dollars. It is a 1994 w/ 140,000 miles. It had a bad oil leak when I bought it (thats the reason I got it so cheap) but I found out that it was just a loose oil filter. The suspension needs work in the front and the body is kinda rough, but I don't care about the body that much because I am turning it into an oval track racer anyway.

The only deeper money pit than a car is a boat (aka BOAT - Bring On Another Thousand):D

RE: whats your idea of a good deal on a mark 8?

I just bought my third Mark VIII. It's a 1993 150k, Black/Black, already has converted suspension. Paid $825! I think that is a good deal. Needs paint though.
