Wheels .... Want my aftermarket rims?

I might get rid of the wheels on my car in favor of some 16's. These are 17's and they look fine, but they do require lower profile stiff sidewall tires which ride different. I'm more into a good ride since here in the rust belt we have some really awful pavement due to winter wear on the roads. I was younger once and had all kinds of low rider cars with super low profile tires and that was then. I also have been followed by cops twice in the 2 weeks I have owned the car and I am 37. Those days are over for me too and the wheels look gangsta a little too much.

I would like to find the right set of Lincoln wheels for my car, but I also like this Taurus wheels. They have soft curves matching the Mk VIII and they blend in. Anyone have a pic or experience with Taurus/Sable/Continental wheels?

Any of you young whipper-snappers live near Cincinnati that may want to swap wheels? Stockers for bling? These wheels are crazy expensive and I would swing an easy deal. They are only a couple of months old and it shows.

RE: Wheels .... Want my aftermarket rims?

While Taurus rims will fit - correct offset, and bolt pattern - they are about a half inch narrower and set further into the wheel wells, and hence look a little goofy. Same-o same-o with the LS wheels.

According to a chart the offset is off by 1 mm and the half inch shouldn't be all that bad on the width. It would be nice if thus wasn't the case, but the the Lincoln wheels are so hard to find and the Taurus wheels can be had new delivered to my door for $410 which is attractive.

I may even buy one just to check it out and if it looks okay I could get another 4 and have a full size spare too.

Better yet! I will buy one and if it doesn't look right it can replace my space saver spare. ;)

Actually, up here in the snow belt, I use Taurus rims for my winter tires. Yes, they are narrower and yes, they don't look that great, but they save my chrome 10 spoke directionals. Not exactly the same ones as you posted, but the same idea - 5 spokes. They actually take away from the car. But, in winter, who really cares. Better than plain ole' black rims if you could find them. If you want the 5 spoke look, some Mustang Bullet clones would look ok I think.

Thanks for the pic man! Gives me an idea of what it would look like. The low profile 17's grab all the ruts in the pavement too and I can't stand that anymore.

RE: Wheels .... Want my aftermarket rims?

Why not just go with thunderbird rims 15" and you can put even fatter rubber on there-plus you can find them all day at the bone yards;)

That sounds good, but the 15 inch rims don't fit over the front brakes.

Turns out a guy has contacted me and we are meeting tomorrow. He gets my Eagle Alloy series 025's and I get his Octastars. I'm quite happy with that. ;)
